Get a hand held starter switch. Disconnect the clip that goes to the top male spade on the starter's solenoid. Clip one of the leads from your hand-held onto it. Clip the other lead onto the big post that the main battery cable is attached to. When it's safe to do so, squeeze the hand-held remote starter switch. If it doesn't turn over, the solenoid is shot. If you want, detach the lead from the hand-held off of the male spade on the solenoid and attach it to the post that has the braided copper wire running to it. When it's safe to do so, squeeze the trigger on your hand-held remote starter switch. The starters motor should spin like mad, but not actually engage the flywheel. This should eliminate the starter as the problem. Conversely, you could always remove the POS and take it to a Pep Boyzz or O'Reilly's for testing if yer feelin' lazy that day...

ok i could be wrong and i probably don't know what i'm talking about but here it goes. my cousin has a 87 300z (i know not the same car) he got it about 2 months ago he does'nt know much about cars soo... he doesn't like to drive the z much because he does'nt want to put to many miles on it (he is'nt that good at driving a manual) and he want's to only take it out at night to race (slow) back to the point one day he tried to start it and it wouldn't, he got some body over there and they found out that it was a little wire in the ignition switch that had corrouded they cleaned it off and ever since it started. Looks like he'll have to use it now because he got in a wreck with his civic.
