If you put the 13bt into an Ariel Atom, wouldn't you have to mount it transversely? Would that work well?
I would hate to try to find the transmission to work with that setup...

Guys enought Atom.... Atom is not the only Light weight car in the "World" . I dont like people all the suddenly talk Atom that Atom in this....
But I have to make my self clearly. I am big fan of ATom. infact I know this company way back in 200 or 2001. it get full feacture of Atom in Weekly "Auto Car". back them design still the same Is wonderful design !!! I love it . but the "Chassic and Suspension" was No match with Classic Seven....... took them almost 5 years to come to this stage..
Every body start talk about them... When "Top Gear" have that infamous Video clip.

mount my RA1 to my wheels. and did a aligment .. Going to test new setup on this car.
and take few pic of my exhuast and Watt link
Oh last but more importanly.. Went to "MazdaTrix" to have engine Compression check , I do that on all the car I plan to track and I will try to do compression check every 6mo.
But I have to make my self clearly. Did some Calcuation. about the possible chance to use 3th gear on slowest turn in street of willows. cause i dont really like the Short shifter that is on the car now. it work Ok in solo2. but is kind da hard to shift from 2th to 3th
My Control is, a my friend's 1997 BMW 3.2 weight 2700lb(600lb lighter then stock). did 1:29.xx and have 3.15 final drive. with 220WHQ and I know he use 3th gear on slowest turn in Street of willow
so here is how I can the number out
2700/2.2= 1227KG
1000kg/1227kg=0.81
220WHQ X 3.15(final drive)=693WHQ that is a on wheel Tq with final drive
693x0.81=561.33
Here are number of my car. 1981 MAZDA RX-7 weight 2200(fully weight) 4.076 final drive with 141WHQ
2200/2.2=1000KG
1000KG/1000kg=1.0
141WHQ X 4.076(Final Drive)=574WHQ
574x1.00=574WHQ
So on paper I should be use 3th gear on the slowest turn in street of willow
For comparsion

some pic, of today's shake down test . Did pretty well. 1:31.5. that mean I am faster then fastest Stock S2000 or I should fastest Street able Import without any Aero !! . I will post complete write out later tonight

the car need better brake and brake balance for a car that weight 2200lb. cause in Solo event. brake is kind da for weight transfer.(Tire do a lot of stoping and cornering). for this event I turn more bias to brake so I Counter clock wise turn the valve
Rear sway bar.most of Solo2 First gen Rx-7 took them off.I think the reason is to reduce Over steer.
but I suffer understeer in some corner!! with lift inside wheel !! that's why you see some of corner I need to turn wheel almost more then half turn...
I think with better brake and rear sway bar I can get down to 1:30 or under easy

Looking great out there. What are you looking at for better braking? ReSpeeds brake upgrade? Also for the sway bar, they do remove it for that snap over steer. But if you wish to have something a bit better look into putting on a ReSpeed tubular front sway bar paired with a rear Racing beat one.
What is the car running for struts and springs? How many lb are the springs f/r.

As suspension
Tokico Illumia, the MR2 strut. with ERS 450LB. and Eibach sbring wih cut off coil...
ST swap bar at front.
I think the car is not very stable at hight speed the car will flap around, I need to be extra careful on the steering input, . due to the Hight ride hight. and Spring is too stiff for the shocks. I think I will put back rear sway bar too see. what car will react !!

Wont be able to shake down the car. until 2008 jan. in the mean time. the car have some misc upgarde need to be done.
First . Swaping the seat. one key element of Tracking driving. is a Seat postion. so here i am try to fit Recaro SPG racer( i am a big fan of RECARO seat. I personaly try almost all the seat in the market. MOMO, Sparco, OMP, Cobra, Bride and recaro) into a tiny SA.... is pretty much a bolt on job... but you have to watch the gap between the head proticion and glass. I guess you wont have this problem when you install none SPG racer seat.
Over all I love it. good seating postion. the clutch feel easier... Not too much blind spot. and good support from the seat...
Next would be improve rear brake performance, and install GSL-SE sway bar

First event of 2008. I guess the Track day lord... (more)

First event of 2008. I guess the Track day lord is on our side(aleast for today)Suppose to be raining !!. today is mostly Dry condion. beside first and sec session... The Weather still cold. Ground temp in 3th session is only 41F, and the highest it get is about 67.....
As for my HSF. I put back Rear sway bar. Dial in more camber on front. re adj rear brake balance. the car feel much better in hight speed session, like turn one, I dont have to lift as much... but the car still suffer heavey understeer... in slow session. the worst session is skip pad.... and turn one
I try so hard... Finally get to 1:30.30x( i was slower then before most of session) but finally in last session I improve 1.3 sec compare to last testing........ I dont think i ever drivethis hard before...... Today the car handel funny ?
The brake still sucks..... to a point I dont believe it .... I really need to improve that big time.

I think I blow my right front shocks.... The car suffer massive lean on Left corner.. and will throw car into snap over steer condion...... and when I jack the car up I can see water like oil on the shock shaft
Almost cause a 3 car accident chaos.... I guess drive your DOT tires to race track. pick up a lot of grease on the road.. that really really scare...
