My driveshaft

Well, a while ago I asked for some help about my car shaking and you guys gave me some info and I decided to go ahead and change out my driveshaft. I was about to buy one from mazdatrix for over 200 bucks but I filled out an online request form for a driveshaft and a junkyard in ohio said they had one for 65 bucks shipped. Well, I recieved my driveshaft a couple of weeks ago and I was just sitting on it then I decided to swap it out and I'm am glad I didn't wait any longer. I looked at my front u-joint and I was shocked to see how much damage there was. I don't have a picture yet but I can tell you that I could've probably ripped the joint apart with a little force. Thats how much play there was.

Oh, btw all vibrations are gone.

wow some serious double posts. my car would start to shake at about 40mph. Also there were some wierd noises coming from under the car like something was scratching against the transmission that would come and go when I would let off the clutch. At first I though it was the clutch but there was no way because its only got about a 1000 miles on it. All I did to check it was, jack up the car, climb underneath, and see if there was any play in the u-joint. The rear didn't have any but the front had approx 1/2 inch of play. Don't get the play mixed up with the back lash of the rear end. the entire drivie shaft will have a little bit of play (mine had barely) but I actually grabbed each side of the front ujoint and was able to turn it. I don't know exactly what website I got it from because all I did was type online junkyards in google and filled out a request form. I think it was called junkyard bulldog or something like that. I had about 10 or so replies and 62 after shipping was the cheapest I found. The driveshaft came from a 85 with 92,000 miles.

I hadn't seriously looked into an online junkyard, but I'm not too quick to drive down to the local one that is, appearantly, just about 2 miles or so away either.
