actually NA's exhaust are hotter since there is no turbo in the way to take the energy and heat away. Generally turbo's run around 1600F while NA's are around 1800F

Did the paint burn off your pacesetter header right away like mine did?

I've got the header and the Pacesetter muffler (if you can call it that, it's more like a megaphone).

Really? Where did you get this information from?
I don't agree, so I would like to hear more.

well, i'm not trying to answer for him ... and i'm not, so don't get me wrong. but i was assuming that he was talking about factory cars that haven't been modded. that may have been a bad assumption and only he can answer that.

however, considering that NA cars run a constant compression ratio, and a turbo is going to vary depending on boost levels, wouldn't the extra fueling dialed into the factory computer serve two purposes?

1 - to fight detonation due to the increased compression of forced induction
and ...
2 - to cool the inherent extra heat of forced induction

i mean ... i'm not trying to argue or anything, but that's what i was thinking.
??????
what're your thoughts on it?

Well i painted mine High Temp Sliver before installing it to match with everything else in the engine bay ( at the time i had all of my intake etc. taken apart to clean and test, so everything was painted)
But yes the Sliver i painted on burned right off, There is no paint on it at the moment that i am aware of, but i run it pretty hard and on various occasions i've seen the header glow red after a long night.. so im not expecting anything to be left on it.

think about it. the exhaust is spinning the turbos which have more mass to absorb heat then a plain na mainfold plus add 2 turbos. that is one of the reasons turbo cars have more underhood heat. now the counter to this would be the higher boost levels meaning bigger bang and more heat so that it could match and surpass an na given the right conditions.

yes, but you're also compressing the air which with increased pressure creates heat on the parts, then radiates back into the exhaust. The heat scavenged by the parts cam be almost nil.

Once ran a Lotus turbo on a bench to photograph it and it got so hot I'd swear we could see the turbine whirringaway through the metal. Okay it was only orange hot, but still... yikes

I need a new exhaust system but the price of a RB muffler is a little hard to swallow. I am going to get the RB header and wanted a muffler that didn't look stock and had a nice throaty sound but not too loud.
I was looking at the apex but I don't know how loud it would be.
