MSD 6A Results
All right guys got it done and been driving for 2 weeks and this is the results.
-Fuel consumption was actually reduced
-corrected my power band, meaning smooth constant acceration throughout the rpms.
-slightly quicker trottle response.
I had to hook it up the directfire method,
NO OTHER WAY WORKS
Had to buy an extra coil. w/holder
Had to change my spark plug wires, be ready to buy a new set of wires cause directfire requires the leading coils to connect to the leading spark plugs and stock wires won't reach. and the 3rd leading coil requires a wire with "male ends" on both ends. You'll need to buy a set of wires you crimp and cut yourself.
Had to custom make a bracket, since I'm a "Pro bracket builder" it was not a problem.
Luckily no wires were extended off the msd, and the box was placed by the cone air filter.
Total cost in "canadian dollars":
MSD box $330
wires $115
MSD coil $90 x3 (you need 3 in total)
A $715 dollar ignition system. Thats what pissed me off cause you never think that you'll need "this and that" to make it work.
You american guys will probably be able to do it for less cuz everything is cheaper over there.
But looking back, it's not much bang for your buck, but I don't regret it. It'd would have been better if I had known what I had to buy all at once instead of running back and forth.
Time..... 5 hours for a clean install.
PS the distributor looks weird cuz some spots aren't used!

Nice coils but maybe a little over kill. I used Accel's for $50 Can. a pop and they work fine. You could have even left the trailing coil as stock since there is little to be gained by adding a high perf. coil for trailing (although I did too). As for the wires, you probably upgraded to a better wire with this install so you shouldn't really count the wires (you could have bought a couple of coil to plug wires for $10 each). Bottom line is it could have been done cheaper so, in other words, the MSD upgrade does not cost as much as you have quoted (it simply cost you that much with your add-on's) I still think having a decent ignition system (that's done right as you have) is a very important upgrade on these cars

Where did you get the distributor? I am wiring up a dual MSD 6A box setup with the MSD coils. MSD recommended not usinf the blaster 2 for rotary engines. The suggested using MSD Blaster DIS Racing Ignition Coils #MSD-8230 (Summitracing.com part#) They are for use with dual coil cars. Anyway, I have not ben able to find any new distributors for a 12A engine. Hook a brother up, Man!

I'm thinking a DIS coil would be best for a rotary, in direct fire mode (which is the way it should be so the CDI sparks don't need to go through the cap). I've got a 6AL that will be used on a streetported engine so I don't over rev it.
