21!!! LOL I get around 12, and that is me babying the throttle..... With gas prices the way they are it has forced me to relagate the 7 to the weekend driver.... But seriously, I bought a Honda Civic for $400 and drove the crap out of it, Now I have a 1989 Toyota Corolla GT-S that I got for $200. It doesnt burn a drop of oil, runs like a champ, and lays a 20 ft patch of rubber on demand. Oh and it has LSD so I am happy.

I dont think of my 4 bangers as pure bred race cars, but by god it is fun to throw them around a corner. And it gets 40 MPG while cruising at 80 mph!!

The Civic was a hunk of crap, but this Corolla is growing on me... I might just fix it up and keep it, its got the 4A-GE engine in it.. I think it will fill the gap until I get another MKIII Supra, one that I can afford to keep in storage until I can get around to fixing it up.

But honest to god, you can find ford tempos, and caviliers and Topaz's and the like for less than $200! It wont be listed as that much, but you can wittle away at the price. Hell my Corolla was listed for $800, I talked 600 off of the tag (benefit of being a mechanic and a bodyman, I can do things the average buyer isnt willing to deal with)

With gas hovering around the $3 mark, you should be thinking in the long run, any performance mod will SEVERLY affect your 7's mileage. And besides, having a second car allows you to store your 7 for that wonderful season known as salt... I mean winter... that is if you have a place to store it...

I know I only said domestic 4 bangers above, but they are cheaper than imports. Me I just like the fact that Toyota is a known definition for reliability. Oh and a synonym would be invulnerable, or immortal.... And the more your around them, the more you start to like their "unique" styling...

Okay sorry for the thread-jack, although the bus thing is a good idea. but from experience your friends who give you rides will start asking you why you only drive your car after you get home, and only twice a week....

If your dead set on performance, order a BD catalog and a RB catalog and prepare to drool. Everything shiney in the RB catalog will most likely make you faster

ya i like shiny stuff.. haha..

ive been thinkin about gettin another car a lot... and i really dont have any probs with a good ol fashion 4 banger... my bro works at a dealership and let me drive a 6-cyl. 5 speed wrangler..... honostly, i thought about trading in my 7 for a good 10 min.. that thing hauled ***...... . but 200 for a corolla is a damn good deal. what im thinking about doing is working as much as possible so i can buy a car this summer and put my 7 in storage to fix up, and thats wat ill prolly end up dong if i can convince my parents... it sucks to be young..

but i will admit... driving a 7 in an icy parkling lot is a really fun thing to do... . i had a good winter..

Suspension, ignition, gut cat, more suspension, good carb tune, remove anything not important, tires and wheels.

Heh, When I was getting my liscense my mom had and still has, a 4.0 I-6, Jeep Cherokee. I loved it, but nowadays you can get a good used jeep for under 2K. There arent many american engines as bulletproof as a Chrysler straight 6.

The Rx-7 isnt for everyone, its a jack of all trades but a master of none. Factory stock it can handle well, it can accelerate well, and has a decent top end. However without major modifications it wont be anything more than what it is. It is a dedication that takes years and thousands of dollars to do.

To most people an Rx-7 is no different than any other japanese car, if you thought my Corolla was just another 4 door, your wrong. Look up an 89 Corolla GT-S dont forget the GT-S, its a hot little coupe with toyotas prime twin cam engine for that year.

In the right hands it could stomp other cars five times it value. Most people go their entire lives limiting themselves to something. All the guys on here that say "screw pistons" or "pistons are teh ghey" are idiots, they are no better than the backyard rednecks that only drive V-8's and hate on imports....

But I am impartial, if it goes fast, odds are I want it....

(And no... I am not doing anything to the said Corolla, I just realized what a huge deal I got. )
