MMO with synthetic oil, is it ok?
Hello everyone. I was wondering if it's possible to add MMO to the engine if it's running synthetic oil? Does MMO have a website?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I wouldn't be so sure that Marvel Mystery Oil is in fact a true "synthetic" oil, at least what is termed synthetic presently, as the stuff has been around since the fifties!
Actually, "synthetic" oil is just petroleum-based oil that has been molecularly (!) engineered. Running synthetic oil like Amsoil in a rotary reduces wear and actually produces more horsepower. I've read on this forum the opinion that using synthetic oil for injection/premix is not good, due to gummy deposits being formed.
I don't believe that is necessarily the case, as I have several friends running synthetics with no problems whatsoever. Just my two-cents. -WG

I think you'd find most ppl here against Synthetic oil... though I havn't seen any negatives with a mate who uses Synthetic on his 83 rx7... on my 85 I don't use Synthetic because of the negatives I've HEARD about burning and leaving deposits, but firsthand I havn't seen any probs with either.
Upto you man...

Synthetic plus MMO.....hmmmm....
In truth MMO is a petroleum distillate. Don't know how it would react with Syntheic????
Have no comment on regular oil vs. snythetic, except that the Mazda Factory didn't recommend it. This debate has been ongoing for quite some time, and I've still not heard of a reasonable explanation one way or the other.....I do trust MMO, and it's been around since the Twenties, originally designed as a supercharger lubricant.........
Denny,
From the 'ol corncrib....

exhaust has a much different twinge to it when it's burning MMO...
btw, how well exactly does the MMO stay mixed with the gas if you're not driving the car (and sloshing the gas in the mean time)... cause i put in like 6 oz with 6 gallons of gas, and it's sat in one place for a week or 2, and when i run it, it just spits out blue smoke (which it didnt do when it was running straight gas)?
or is that something i'm gonna have to get used to running a 1oz:1gallon premix?

Lube Job:
1 Shot Vodka
4 Oz MMO
Grenadine (Add to preference)
Serve in a cut open oil filter... Hang a mint leaf off the side for decoration.

Told y'all it was minty. Makes your breath fresh and gives you that friction free smile.![Big Grin](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I wouldn't run synthetic unless I knew the oil control rings were in good shape (IE Recent rebuild) and I was running a modded/Disabled OMP... ANd tehn I wouldn't add MMO to it. I'd premix and add MMO to the Modded OMP.

Keep on using Castrol GTX....it's a low sulfur oil and it's good, pretty cheap too. I change my oil every 1,000 miles (turbo) and I would NEVER use synthetic.

I finally got enough ***** to put MMO into my gastank. I put about 4oz to the full tank. So far I am impressed with the fact that the engine seems a bit quieter and the start up just a bit faster.(not that I had problem before). One more interesting note. The amount of start up white smoke actually reduced.(the regular cold start up smoke.) NO, I didn't smell any minty flavor in the exhaust.LOL!

Now, for the last time, "synthetic" oil is petroleum-based. So is Marvel Mystery Oil. What's the prob?
