MMO Questions

I have a 84 gs, header, straight pipe-magnaflow, emissions gutted, k&n, direct fire, whatever. I started using MMO, a quart in the oil and about 6 oz. in the tank. Really smoothed out the engine alot. Do i still have to run the oil metering pump if i use that mmo stuff in the fuel? Or is there some other premix formula to use? And will it foul the plugs any? Whats the priognosis on that doctor???
Thanx for listening to my bs.

shouldn't foul the plugs. not sure whether you can kill the omp or not.

I tried using MMO in my gas, never made any difference that I could tell. I'm not spending my money on that. I shift at 7k+ more often that not; I don't think there's much carbon in there lol. My car has ran awesome and pulled hard for 20 years without any MMO or ATF; I don't see any reason to start messing with it now.

Oh, and don't remove the OMP just because you're running MMO in the gas. It isn't a substitute for that. If you want to remove the OMP, which personally I think is unnecessary for a street-driven car, you'll have to premix 2 stroke oil in the gas.

I think the best advice would be to premix a little 2 stroke, or even regular oil, in your gas, as a supplement to the OMP. I wouldn't really worry about MMO or whatever, but that's me. From what I've heard the stock premix ratio per the OMP is a little thin for hard driving. I've heard this suggestion from experienced guys before, and I think I might start doing it.

Again, I would not remove the OMP. Supplement it if you want, but don't remove it unless you have a good reason to do so.

There's been lots of talk about oil metering strategies on the forum in various sections (I think I remember a good one in the rotary performance section.) You might want to read up a little before making your decision.

mine feels a bit smoother with mmo. i mainly do it because my motor has 140k on the odo and when i got the car the fr rotor's omp line was off the carb. i'd rather stay on the safe side, especially running 20w-50 which probably isn't as easy to inject. its a call you have to make. i wouldn't cut the omp either. no real reason to.
