minty fresh and speed?
Ok, I have a 82 GSL with a rebuilt 12a (with 4000 miles on it), i'm running a rb header, bonez cat, and whatever rear section i got the car with (either stock or stock replacement). Anyway, The Bonez cat has less then 2000 miles on it, but even since the beginning, I can smell the exhaust (which is Hardly minty fresh) when i'm sitting at stoplights. The car smells great (well not great, but hardly noticeable) when i had the stock setup on it, but slow as hell.
My question is- is there anyway to have a both a decent smelling exhaust and high flow? Or am I asking too much...
Thanks!
Alvin

Honestly thats the thing I dislike the most about my car, I can't take it for a good drive without getting a splitting headache, im not talking about a small gas smell im talking about it smells like you dipped your clothes in gas.

Well, I already have a fairly new bonez cat (less than 2000 miles on it) and i'm not running rich or anything, I already have 2gdfi too, though i'd be interested in trying the TT, so lovinda7 (check your pm). So that's why i'm curious as to what i'm missing? is the bonez cat not doing what it needs to? hum... maybe i'll try this mmo stuff...

love the braaaap
The words "minty fresh" should never be associated with an FB. If you run a cat that actually cuts down the emissions enough to make it smell "minty fresh", you'll be choking the engine too much, therefor no speed.

1. Check your timing.
2. Are you using 2nd gen plugs on your leading? You should be if not.
3. Check your tail light seals, good call ratboy.
4. Get that system from Lovintha7. You won't regret it.

If you did a engine swap to something like a s5 t2 or even a 13Brew (13btt) and used all the same stuff.. you would have 3 things going for you: 1. More power 2. Better smelling exhaust 3.Lower noise. One bad thing I can think of off the top is that its expensive to do the swap, about $3000 or so. You can save alot of money by doing to job yourself. There are lots of threads and how to's on this web site.
