Mikuni Sidedraft Install pics!!!
I've finally gone sidedraft status! Last week I recived my Mikuni 44PHH w/wrap around manifold. It was already jetted and complete for my street port. I bought it used off of Partstrader.
Last thursday I finshed the install and took a couple of pics so I figured I would show you guys.
I also installed a Carter fuel pump and a Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator. Man can I say this car SCREAMS!!! Took it out to the races; rice-burners are completely embarassed now and I can keep up and beat quite a few of those 8 cylinder thingys out there
tell me what you think...

and here is the driver side pic... I've cleaned up the engine bay a bit since I took the pics and also does anyone know where I can puchase a oil metering pump rod, I don't like the idea of using a coat hanger for an extension

Here's mine. This is the way it was installed by the previous owner, before he blew up the engine...
Anyway, I simply installed it on a new 12A I had, so it's looking the same. Apart that I cleaned up the engine bay a little... Works great, but mainly pulls from 4500rpm onwards

The water temp sensor is used to operate the electrical fan. Doesn't look very tidy right now, so I'll find some better sollution when the 13B goes in this winter.
I'm not sure if this is a 2nd gen thermostat housing. I have two FC's (one is actually my brothers, I just mean two to look at :-) )and they seem different. Could be older 13B thermostat housing ???

thanks guys
Yeah I run a second one, because I've had a thermostat stick close once on my first car (86 teg) and since I owned a vdub bug I like to be informed about about the cooling system (bugs yes, no water cooling, but oil cooling must be observed, I had a senser before and after the oil cooler thermostat) and it's working all the time.
Oh and it's the orginal housing from the the 79 motor. I just drilled and taped the housing
I thought a few of you guys would get a kick outta that
Yeap that is one I ordered from manntis. It mounter perfectly, no problems at all and it's the orginal alt.
Explain how it didn't fit and maybe I can help you? Is your alt orginal or a "oem" replacement?
Runs amazingling smooth! I really only get flat spots when it's cold and that's off idle a bit. Oh and there is a tiny sputter if I get fully off the gas and back on, just gotta play with the accl pump. I didn't adjust anything on the carb yet, I installed the why it is. It fires right up every time. The power I get is unreal, all the way to red line.
Only one issue I have... thought I wouldn't have this problem because the under hood temp are so high, but the upper 1/4 of the manifold is iccing up slightly. Is this normal for this style intake.
On my bug with a centermount weber 48 it was a problem but I had no rear bonnet.
rotary emotions-
Looks nice, kinda like mine Two questions for yah:
How did you make the bracket for the choke cable?
It looks like your running the return line for the tank, are you?
thanks,
matt
Is that another water temp sensor in the thermostat housing?

where did you get you dual pulley

How's the driveability, is it smooth? Any Flat spots?

357- It started out as a stock 79 east coast 12a with 180,000 miles. Blew all the oil seals (still runs.. just smokes like a mother), Bought a rebuilt/new "extend-a-port" with the better apex seals etc from Revolution Rotary. Ran it with the stock carb just re-jetted with all the emmision controls stripped from the motor and a racing beat street port exhuast.
about 4 weeks ago, in the wanted section I posted I was looking for carb setup, sidedraft, downdraft, or holley setup. I got a bunch of replies but this one sounded the best. It was fully complete (minus the omp rod) already jetted. So I was shoot I had to have it... I ended up paying $475 w/shipping and recived last week.
The power increase is amazing the thing is just pure grunt and just enought to run with v-8 and beat a few.... beat a 13.5 sec mustang by about half a car this weekend twice.
Did you use zip ties too...

I just did the same mod but it take a bit of coaxing to start her up when it's cold, but then again it is 30 deg in the morning now. I'm also getting a backfire now and then in the exhaust after I shut it off. I've tried adjusting the timing but it still does it. I've got to get a fuel press. guage to see if that is the problem. I just left the settings alone when I put it on. Once it is warmed up it runs like a raped ape though. I like shifting into 5th at 110 mph.

mazdaspeedrex: Hey, we're both from NE!! Are you coming down to the SCCA race at the Lancaster County Event Center this Sunday? In addition, how long does it usually take you to get yours started when its this cold? Mine usually has a little trouble, but I always keep it in the garage, which seems to really help. Any thoughts?

When I start it cold I open up the the fuel enrichment, pump the gas once and hold the pedel just slightly in and she fires right up.. I let her warm up for about 5 mins, and close the fuel enrichment and drive off.
I only have to do this in the morning... other wise I just pump the gas and hold the pedel just slightly in and she fires right up and idles... a little rough but idles

I don't know if I'll make it sunday or not, I'm supposed to be in Norfolk for work and if I send someone else I'm supposed to still work in Omaha. The past few days it's taken two or three tries and a little coaxing.

1rx7owner - I'm guessing that your's might be a replacement then, I bet you could take the pulley to a machine shop to have it bored out for a small fee...
Logo - It was wet out so traction was a issue on saturday, but a race is a race... I'm guest-a-mating around 200 or so, but who know's really untill I get it on a dyno.
