Mikuni carb too small for streetport?
Today I was playing around with my new mikuni phh44 and I found that it produces more power without the outer venturi. It runs at pretty much the same a/f ratio with it or without out. The venturi's are 39mm and I am unsure about the inner venturi's there were not any numbers on them. It made 109rwhp and 99ft-lbs of torque without the venturis. The low end is the same with or without.
Do you guys think that this carb is too small?
Should I try tuning it without venturi's?
What a/f ratio should I try to tune for at wot, right now I'm at 13.
Should I get the 41mm venturi's?

Run it without the ventiuries to make it a true 44. Thats how I ran my killer bee mikuni in my 13-B streetport. It will do fine but there is no comparison when you use a 48 IDA. I cant say much on 12-A streetport as I never owned one.

Steve, you have way too much faith in me, I'm still learning about the Mikunis. I'm running it on my 1/2-bp and it was too rich, but I still had the stock over axle exhaust piece. I'm just about finished up running a full 3", I'll have a better idea tomorrow, if I can get the wideband on it and it quits raining. Gotta love these all nighters, just to show up at the BBQ, lol.
The 44 should be good for a street port 12A.
