Miata Torsen in GSL-SE help!
Hello,
So I have an 84 se that is a track car. Since I bought the car the clutch pack in the stock LSD has never worked but it was never a big deal since I am running a stock motor.
Diff ate itself this past weekend, though, so I am wanting to upgrade by putting the 99+ miata torsen in. (gearing + torsen)
Now, I have read this thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generati...torsen-542041/
and it seems this can be fairly straight forward but I just want to clarify.
1. The splines are the same on all 84-85s. Correct? (gsl vs gsl-se)
2. This thread implies, then, that the axle splines on a miata are the same as a 1st gen rx7. So I DO NOT need to change out the carriers?
3. To clarify. The Pinion bearings and everything will fit right into the GSLSE housing?
I guess my point is this seems WAY TOO convenient of a swap but if it's true it sounds like a great plan to get 3.9 gears and a working LSD.
(Please note: I have a friend who is a professional mechanic and can adjust the lash/preload etc)
Thanks!

Ok some more research and I guess it is that straight forward.
Further research shows me a 4.3 miata diff is going to run me at least 600 bucks...
If anyone knows a combo to frankendifferential something that will get me a higher gear ratio for road racing 4.3-4.88 and help my LSD work again (reasonably priced clutch discs) Let me know!

Here's some more info on the subject: http://www.solomiata.com/Drivetrain.html
Edit-
It's worth pointing out that there is a Type 1 and Type 2 miata torsen. I was thinking that page showed how to identify them but after browsing over it I'm not seeing it.
