I have one question though, in the article they said "when the hood was opened" but then said you wont get pics of the new RX-7 for a while. What hood was opened then?

Anybody that actually thought Mazda would put a 4 rotor engine in a production car is out of their mind. I don't personally think Mazda will ever put anything bigger than a 3 rotor into a production car. Its just not financially feasable to put such an engine into a road going car, especially when the power they want can easily be made by a 3 rotor. But hey, this is just my opinion.

i bet if mazda made a mazda 4 rotor super car (limited production) and charged a ton of $$$$$$$$$ for it people would buy it.... a rotary mazda version of the f40! that would be bad ***!

Knew it had to be an April fools gag when I saw the date, and also where it said "only sold in Japan and China due to their lower emissions requirements. As we all know, Japan has some of the world's toughest emissions laws.
Some other notable April fools gags:
1. This news report from the early '90s:
"The city council of Whiterock, BC Canada (a posh beach community with a steep upslope covered with homes having million-dollar ocean views) has approved the construction of a 120 million dollar 20-storey luxury hotel with beach access on Marine Drive adjacent the pier. The new complex is of the prestigeous Blockview hotel chain based in Malasia."
2. In the mid-'90s in New York City a habitual prankster dressed himself as a preist and pedalled through Manhatten on a combination rickshaw/confessional booth, taking confessions from all who felt the need. "It's amazing what some people in New York are willing to confess to" he quipped.

And some 2 rotor would still get 8mpg.
Anyone who could afford to buy a 4 rotor would not be worrying about mpg. I always find it interesting that second hand Ferrari have such low mileage; they sit in the garage with more time spent on polishing them than actually being driven.
