Maybe a silly question, but I gotta have a drink!
My 85 has a hole in the center console where the joystic/switches used to be. I'd like to adapt that for holding drink cans or bottles. Needs rubber or something for support, but a can of RC goes in there pretty well. Anyone got ideas??

1) Seemingly innocent cup-holder.

6) Easily removed when not in use.
That has been the lesson for today,

Nice interior, Directfreak!
I got stuck with a burgundy interior in my GSL-SE. Just got the car back from the paint shop - they painted the scuffed and faded silver bit of the center console with bodycolor paint and two coats of clearcoat, just like the exterior (black/grey metallic). Looks pretty sharp.
I'm about to mount an aftermarket stereo in place of the stock 3-piece and fount the Turbokit 7501 fits 84-85s perfectly, though it's your usual mat black plastic aftermarket dash kit.
Can the EQ work without the dual amp (in a new system with modern pre-amp) or does it function in stock trim only?

cup holder
Search miata.net for the P/N of the cup holder, then order it from one of the discount vendors on the same site. Have it shipped to your house for less than the local dealer price.

You could also just buy the cup holder on eBay. They show up there quite frequently. Like this one:

Price isn't that bad either. They look stock in Series 2 FB's too. There was a Miata in the gas station a few weeks back for servicing that had one. So when I had some free time I took it out and put it in my Rex to see how it fit. Looks good and fits in pretty well too. I wanna get one someday when I have a few extra bucks to blow.

A 20oz bottle will fit next to the trans hump wedged in by the pass seat towards the back where the seat belt is

Or you can opt for the more expensive holder
