Marvel Mystery Oil

WHat exactly does this stuff do. Many of you claim it works wonders on your 7's. Would u mix it in your gas the same as if you were premixing? Can this harm the engine in anyway? thanks for you help!

i dont perosnaly own a RX but i have friends with them and they dont believe in it.

MMO is a superlubricant that breaks through some tuff grime in an engine, i ran 5qts of it in my 626 with no problems, actually felt like more lower because it wasnt slinging around 40wt oil

i have seen MMO used in a suzuki RE5 which is a twin rotor 500cc bike, the owner said that it worked really good and kept the apex seals lubed and kept the oil lines fresh longer.

i stand by MMO as i have used it in all fo my vehicles, 1988 and 87 mazda 626s both "oil, fuel, and even in to the intake tract", 1968 bug "fuel, oil", 1973 mercury "intake, fuel, oil", 1982 yamaha seca 750 "fuel, wet clutch", 1991 honda nighthawk 750 "fuel"
and last but not least my 1991 DR650s "fuel"

i would in no way substitute any way of oiling the apex seals other than stock, adding a little lube i dont think will hurt it but dont take my word for it, i just believe in the stuff

I use it as a premix in my car, I have the OMP blocked off, and I run about 1/3 of a bottle in each tank before filling up. MMO breaks down carbon inside your engine can will increase compression. As far as premixing with just it, some have had good luck with it, and others don't suggest it. But theoretically it should do the same thing as 2 stroke oil, lubricate the internal seals but at the same time clean the engine up (resulting in better compression).

MMO is a super lube, it breaks down the sludge in teh oil and passages.

seafoam on the otherhand works the carbon, that im sure would destroy a rotary engine if run like a piston engine 3k miles with 1/3pint in the oil

if ur looking to clean out ur engine seafoam is IMO the best thing next to a engine overhaul

its some strong stuff tho and can eat some rubber but anything under a RX hood has got to be stronger than a normal car

seafoam for cleaning, MMO for extra lubing

Adding MMO to the gas will not harm the engine. If your MOP is still functioning properly, you don't really need it. The only downside might be fouled plugs down the road from running both the MOP and MMO. 1/2oz. or less, per gal., and the MOP should be fine.

When I built the bp, I took the MOP system out entirely, running TC3W pre-mix. I did notice the other day when I pulled the intake off that the intake ports on the block are a little sticky from the pre-mix. I occasionally run just MMO also.

I always add either 8 oz. of MMO to a tankful or 8 oz. of 2-cycle lube (except now I started using Idemitsu premix). If you start adding MMo your engine will run smoother and better. After awhile I switch to the other stuff.

i don't use it and don't believe in it either. the lucas heavy oil however, i do use and have greaten results. compression is very good for one of my 13b's w/ 141k on motor.

Don't put it in your oil.

I can almost guarantee that your car will smoke if you put it in your oil, even if it's never smoked a day in it's life beforehand.

Others above are right when they say that the MMO is pretty caustic stuff - it'll eat the carbon right away, including the 'good' carbon that's formed around your Oil Control Seals on the rotors, which will allow blow-by oil to be sucked into your intake path to be burned in the chambers, leading to the smoke. Did this last year, and tried everything to get the MMO out of the oil system (followed the directions and put 1qt in place of 1qt of oil during a change). Never again. Too much of a good thing, IMO.

Use it to premix and it will keep your needle valves and seats (or fuel injectors) running clean and clear. Put it in your oil and you'll be challenging yourself to figure out why you did something so stupid when the car was running just fine beforehand.

Don't fix it if it ain't broken!

yeah i wasnt going to add anything else to my oil. I already have lucas and dont want to add another. Should I use Sea foam or MMO? i heard sea foam kills carbon real good. Is MMO comparable in carbon fighting?

MMO "atleast here is california" wont do a thing for carbon, since its a super lubericant it loosens the sludge and allows it to flow to the filter or to the oil pan

MMO on its own WILL NOT SMOKE WHEN PASSED THROUGH AND ENGINE, i know this first hand because for a while i was burning 5qts of oil every 230mi, 5qts of MMO and not a spec of smoke thru the entire 5qts

a little thing that most ppl dont know about MMO "no offence intended" is it basicaly watered down ATF, a trick used b4 MMO wasaffordible was to add about 1/2-1 cup of ATF about 150miles b4 an oil change to clean out all the sludge and grime and varnish, MMO used to come super consentrated in little viles about the size of those pencils u get when playing mini golf

seafoam demolishes carbon like its kool, i live by that stuff also. i dont know how it would affect a rotary tho

old school way of burning the bad carbon on the rotor faces is by "revving till redline" once a day or week. depending on how often you drive the car.

well hey, u got a rev limiter rite? lets see where it bounces off of, im sure wit ha rotary bouncing 9k shouldnt hurt it....

if u do that tho get a test pipe, make some flames :-D

Can you say apex chatter? haha I wouldn't really do this. Sure rotary's love the high rpm's but without a properly built engine for that kind of RPM's you will only damage stuff. Mazda didn't put a redline on this car because there idiots, they did it to protect the engine. The flat powerband makes going over 6500 pretty pointless anyways unless you are bridged or have some seriously extensive modifications.

Why abuse an engine when you can just add some additive?

I have run MMO in all my cars for years, in every 2nd oil change and every third fuel fill, cars run better, cleaner and better economy. I've owned many high mileage cars as cabs and in my opinion it definately helps them last longer. As for rotaries, it it perfect for neglected engines, my FB sat for 10 years, added MMO, turned engine manually a few times, drained all gas, fixed clutch and it started first go, smoked heavily as it burned off the MMO, changed plugs and it runs great.

It's a lubricant and a cleaner, not a repair kit in a bottle but it does its job well.

not sure if i'd go that far , but i used in both my gasoline and oil pan and there was no smoking. i guess i'll find out about the carbon stuff whenever i pull this motor apart. i liked it so much i used it in my MR2 Turbo and it improved my gas calculated mileage.

so how often should i use MM0 in my gas tank then? would every 2500-3000 mile oil change be sufficient? my motors are running great, but i'll give this a shot nonetheless and see what's the hype all about.

Depends if you are still running the OMP, if so this is additional lube in the fuel so I just add it every three fills, if not use it for your premix.

I use 8-10 oz. e very tankful in a new car, then after a few months I switch to 2-cycle or Idemitsu.
