if i were to get one of these airdams, what modifications, are required to install it? it doesnt look like it needs very much, if any, it seems like it just stops under the front molding, and goes to the wheel well.

i always felt like the first gen was lacking something in the front it. i finally figured it out, this airdam. the way it goes back in has bothered me on a subconscious level sometimes.

 

Is that a Mariah? I thought Mariah only made a Mode 1 and Mode 4 front airdam.

 

The Mode 4 bumper is the non-wide-body version you see here:


This body kit offers a different front slant to the nose and also has a center section that offers a bit more airflow to the radiator. The Mode 4 also replaces the entire bumper 'skin', whereas their 'IT-legal' is simply an add-on below the rub strip.

Installation should be pretty straight forward, since it's just bolting up through the bumper skin for attachment. I would also think that some 3M tape under the edges would help to seal it a little better, as well.

Keep in mind, I don't have one of this design, just some observations. My FAD is a Kamei. HTH,

I really think your car is so sharp. One of my all time fav 1st gens.. I like that you kept side black strips ( forgot name of the part )

You mentioned SCCA legal in the title:
Make sure the one you choose passes the rule about mounting no more than 4" above hub centerline.

I have that model on my 1st gen-

As far as bolt and go? Depends on what you want for your car. I sanded down the entire air-dam and filled in some low spots, then applied a primer, then sanded a bit more, a little more primer, then paint, then clear...
Fitting to the car required some work too. The front bumper had to be removed and some additional slices of polystyrene were added to smooth out the front stock bumper. I used a heat gun to reshape the front bumper to 'fit' the air-dam. Also, the fender wells had to be rolled a bit to accept the air-dam properly.

I think some folks may slap liberal amounts of body filler to make the seams and irregularities smooth between the bumper, front quarter panels and the air-dam, but I believe that method would crack under stress.

 

Here are a few night shots when I was comparing stock headlamps to the driving lamps I installed (before alignment). What a difference some driving lights make. Headlamp upgrades are my next venture.
