Mallory fuel pump question

Ok im hoping somone with the same setup will answer me.

ive got a gsl-se, ive ordered the holley 600cfm kit from racing beat, they dont sell a fuel pump for the application.

they reccomend the mallory 4070m fuel pump, so ive ordered everything right, sounds good so far.

WEEEELLLLLLL not so sure all is going well now.

racing beat says that i need a minimum of 6psi of delivery, well the mallory 4070m is listed as a maximum of 4psi, clearly not enough fuel, but on the summit racing site i ordered the fuel pump, its says, good for 4-100psi of delivery.

does anyone have any idea what the christ ive got going on?

im was told by racing beat that i dont need any other parts, i asked about a fuel pressure regulator, they said no, i dont need one.

ive got no experience with this sort of thing, is the pressure adjustable on the mallory?

Keep the stock GSL-SE F/P and get the mallory fuel pressure regulator instead. I dont have the part # on hand, but Im referring to the pump with a return.

OR do what I did, add a return to a regular holley fuel pressure regulator

The Mallory pumps usually come with an adjustable regulator. Go to the mallory website to find the specs on the specific pumps to find out which one you need.

I have both the high pressure (for FI) and the low pressure for carb'd applications. I can't remember the model numbers, but they are great pumps. Make sure you have good voltage, as they can whine loud when they go below 12 volts.

Pitch the stock pump, it won't hold up to your flow rate needs and its too high pressure.

Find out the pump that covers your 6psi range, and stick with that. The regulators are the same cept' with a different spring, so you use the same reg regardless of psi. Make sure to buy a liquid filled guage so you can fin tune your psi.

good luck.

Comp70, Comp110 are the ones that don't need regulating. The Comp140 and Comp250 must be regulated.
  • Comp70.....4070
  • Comp110....4110
  • Comp140....4140
  • Comp250....5250

If an M is at the end, it's the more expensive marine application...
