Magnaflow Muffler????

I have a magnaflow muffler that I took of my parts car, I never heard a 7 with this muffler. Is this a good muffler, will it give me that honda civic ricer sound? I pretty sure a muffler doesn't help with horsepower or torque, but I was just wondering. I was thinking about putting it on the car.

I have a magnaflow on mine no rice sound, but a little loud, not too bad I like it. And the stock muffler is really restrictive you will gain some hp. maybe 5.

if you have the stock cats and manifold the muffler wont help much with the power output.
i can tell you no honda sounds like a rotary engine... dont worry about being grouped with the ricers by noise alone.

Good that was one of my main concerns, I didn't want to roll out to the lake and ppl think, look at that little slow ricer. I know a lot of ppl around here aren't well known for knowing about cars they don't see every time they turn around. The car I am getting has exhaust but I wanted to put this muffler on. If I go with no presilencer, will my car be illegal do to, to loud of an exhaust?

the stright through magnaflow is a really nice muffler. A little loud like the others have said, but since its straight through it flows very well and sounds quite nice.

You can also get them with twin tips just like the stock style. I got the stupid turned up twin tips (like the vdub guy often use) not realizing they have the straight ones like stock. I think I'm going to cut the turn up part off to make it look nicer.

Is there any success with putting on a resonator or two to quiet it down some?

Big misconception. A Ricer is anyone that puts a stupid fart can and a Wal-Mart wing on any car. Doesn't have to be specifically Japanese or Korean

lol, yea very well summed up firebirdslayer, i cant stand when ppl mistake rx7's for slow cheap cars. its like saying a lambo is no better than its matchbox look alike. it might look like a toy but it kicks major ***. rx7 might sound like some fart cans but they kick major ***. i dont know i jsut get pissed when ppl down 7's. like they know what they are talking about. blahh....

i've got the dual tip also, looks freaken sweet and has a very nice throaty sound to it ... but you also have to remember if you have headers or not that will also affect the sound of the car. I have SDJ headers, 2.5" tubing to a 2.25 dual output magnaflow muffler... I will try my best to get some sound and video clips of it as people have been asking me about that.

do you not have any presilencers, dj55b? it seems like that would be awfully loud.

Is it illegal to not have a presilencer? Would it be to loud for the noise restriction thing? jw.

what is your exhaust setup now? if its mostly stock and you're just changing the muffler i really wouldnt worry about sound. however if you have headers / open exhaust all the way back the magnaflow is REALLY damn loud. i've tried like 4 different mufflers with the mostly straight through setup, sometimes trying resonators, etc.

eventually i ended up using a magnaflow straight through, magnaflow high flow cat and a exhaust insert which acts like a silencer you put into the header. its still loud, but atleast its less of a headache.

i'm not sure where these prices of $250 are coming from, i picked up my straight through magnaflow brand new from lordco for $100, then just spend another $15 and buy whatever tip you want and have it welded on.

I run 2 magnaflows, a 5X8 and a 5 inch round through headers and no cat. I bought them from an exhaust warehouse in atlanta for around 80 for 2 straight through stainless steel cans. The exhaust is still loud for sure, but not intolerable. All I know is, I gained at least 20 + hp from these mufflers. The turbo type pieces of junk I was using before were killing my streetports power. I also had a stainless polished tip welded in. You do not need to spend 250 for a dual tip design. Do your hw, and you can find a great price. Magnaflow is highly recommended from this owner.

here is a link to thier store!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Magna...34693417QQrdZ1
