Magnaflow cat
Hi,
I have a 1984 GSL-SE. The split air tube rusted off my catalytic converter so I'm trying to replace it. I ordered a Magnaflow converter #23688. This is supposed to be a direct fit replacement. When I went to connect the split air tube it doesn't bolt up to the flange on the converter. The converter flange is turned about 45 degrees from the split air tube flange and they aren't in the same plane. I double checked the number with the Magnaflow website and that is the correct number. I thought it would just bolt right in where the old one was. Is this the correct converter for my car? Did they just put the wrong converter in the box? I'm going to return this one and reorder it and see what happens.

I had the same issue, so I don't think you got the wrong one. I think they just screwed up on the design. I was able to tweak the air tube and use it briefly, but I ended up pulling it off and putting on an RB exhaust.
Seems like you can return it or cut the tube and weld the flange on the right way. If you want another Magnaflow to experiment on, you can have mine. I have no need for it.

You can also just cut your air tube with a hack saw and splice it back together with some high temp rubber hose and a couple hose clamps. This will allow you to rotate your tube fitting to match the magnaflow cat.
