Magic smoke
When warming up the rx today. it was just about waremd up and i revved it to about 5k and then it started smokeing a blue smoke bad, really bad. then it went away a couple minutes later. what caused this?

leaking oil control seals. There are 2 rubber seals inside each side of each rotor that keep the pressurized oil from leaking past the side seals into the combustion chambers. When these get old, they get brittle, and eventually will allow the oil to flow past them at high rpm, high oil pressure conditions. Once oil gets past the oil control seals, the oil gets into the combustion chambers and is burned - hence the blue smoke.
If you only find that this happens with high engine rpm, then keep the rpm's down. Also note that if you can see smoke, you're burning about a quart of oil every 100-200 miles - so check your oil level more frequently...
My SE does the same thing after 175k miles and only on startup until the engine comes up to temperature. Once warmed up, the housings and rotors expand to help seal the rubber oil control seals better - resulting in no more smoking; unless I rev it up to 7k rpm, then SMOKESCREEN.
Only fix; rebuild.
