lucas oil stabelizer
hey i know this has been disscussed many time on this forum but i was searching thru some of the old threads and most ppl said they thought it was good and a couple people said they thought it might mess with the omp, so this is the question does it do anything bad for the omp, and does it seem to burn out of the combustion chamber???? any input would be great....thanks

has anyone who used it had an engine faliure (or anything else go wrong) directly resulting from using lucas oil stabilizer?
I want to use it just as a temporary fix before I rebuild my engine.
Thanks

The stuff is magic. I was going to rebuild due to a smoke screen that I would get when decellerating, but tried the Lucas as a last ditch effort and haven't had an issue in a few thousand miles. I highly recommend it, and I use it in everything now (even my lawnmower)...

it is good stuff.. I need to increase the amount I used from my last oil change to fix my morning smoke screen..I used 1 quart LOS and the rest was RP 10w-30... so I'll up it to 2 quarts and maybe use the synthetic version of the LOS

I wouldn't use it. I tried it a month back, and a on a really cold morning, i swear i heard metal to metal noise (which i assumed was from oil not getting to the camber), so i turned it off, drained all of the oil out of it, and i swear i lost some power after ward (though I can't prove it)...

Lucas oil is disigned for really cold morning starts.
I use 2 quarts in everything I have! I have a 93 Infinity J30 that has 178000 miles on it and dosnt use any oil; I know its got to be from the lucas oil......
I was wondering if any of you think it would be ok for 3rd gen TT applications. (I believe in this stuff alot) I just wanted some feedback!

lol, no I do not receive royalties from them. I've been using it for over a year without issue. I decided that this stuff works by doing my own checking, not because of some add I read. I did a comparison against Castrol 20/50 on (of all things) a hedge trimmer.
My wife was trimming the hedges and it was making such a loud screeching noise I knew something was wrong. The entire blade was rusted and dry. I placed a few drops of castrol on one side of the blade (at the end of it) and a few drops of Lucas on the other side. When I started it up, the Lucas took off like a rocket and worked its way all the way to the other end of the blade in about thirty seconds or so. The castrol only made it a couple of inches. With the blade running, the Lucas got all "stringy" and was creating strings of oil between each of the blades as they moved, and it literally crawled the entire length of the blade while the castrol just kind of sat there.
To me, this says that the Lucas will work its way into the places that need it better than the castrol can. Like I said, I like it because I took the time to check out its actual performance, but everybody is of course welcome to their own opinions.
And by the way, my engine has never been rebuilt. It has just a hair under 200,000 miles on it and does not smoke, drip, or anything like that. I had all of these issues before I started using the lucas. I'm sold on it, but as I said, to each his own.
One more thing, concerning the safety of use in a rotary. Another member wrote them and asked the question. He posted their reply which stated that it was absolutely safe, even with the use of the omp/mop system. You can probably find his post by searching the forum. Hope this helps to answer your questions.

I just tried it, and it seems to work ok. I still get a little smoke at startup (less than before though), and I still get smoke when I rev it about 5000 rpm. Actually, the smoke cloud hits after I shift it above 5k, and the rpm's drop. Don't know what that's all about, but I got an atkins rotary rotor rebuild kit in my room, so that should take care of it. ![Wink](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Smoking on high rpm deceleration is a symptom of bad oil control rings, or too much oil in the crankcase (overfilled). Worn oil control rings was the situation I was dealing with before I started using the Lucas.

i am about to change my oil this weekend. And now you gyus have me all curious about this product. So I should use 1 quart of this stuff along with my Castrol 20/50 like i usually use? I do have a dowel pin leak and i would like to see if that helps it.

as a start i put about .5 - .75 of a large bottle in.
DONT put it in first, OIL first. i've heard about trochoids mistake. it goes straight to the oil cooler. bad idea.

I would run 2qts of oil, 3/4 of a quart of the lucas, then another quart of oil. Run and then check the level.
If your worried about how well it will burn for the injection just run about 4oz of a good premix to your full tank of gas. This way you know for sure your getting good lube!

I run 4 qts. total on a non turbo NA 13b. i would think 5.5 is way too much but it all depends on what the dip stick reads.

There is a discrepancy in the Haynes manual. In the main section it gives one amount, which is for the front mounted oil cooler system. In the back it gives an updated amount, which is smaller, for the beehive system. I found this out the hard way, and man was I blowing smoke bigtime until I drained some off.
