LSD rumbling

Yes it rumbles and has a rumbling feeling to it when you turn a sharper corner, and as you come out of it when your on the gas. I searched it and all thats come up is change the diff fluid, (and Idid that last year just before I out it away for winter).

It almost feels like its binding. I dunno maybe its just the way it is, but i swear it was nt like that when i bought the car, maybe it was all those burnin nuts and being stupid. It still locks up though so im happy about that but not with the feeling/sound.

Any suggestions? I got the oil changed at the great canadian oil change, becuase i was one lazy sack of ****. I told them it had LSD, and the sticker on the diff is there stating that its a LSD. When they drained the oil i asked him how it looked and they said that it was just dirty, but no metal fragments or of the sort.

only at low speeds, like coming off of a stop sign nd turning. and it hapens eiher right or left turns.

btw my project 7 is comin along, pulled out a big *** dent right behind the passanger door, a little more work with the bondo and it'll be done, then finish cutting out the cancer and welding in peices where nescasary. its gonna be a long haul but its gettin there. Dad did most all the work with that dent but i've been watching an learning how to go about it.

Before I say this, I must inform you that I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE WITH LSD'S OF ANY KIND.

With that said, here is something I learned from Peejay and I'm spitting back out in my own words.

The RX-7 is such a light car that at low speeds the LSD wants to work so well that it'll fight you to turn the car, since the wheels want to move at different speeds for it.

Just start taking turns at 90mph (exhaggerated, of course) and you'll be fine.

That's because it is. That's how it works, it has clutch packs between the side gears and the diff case that have a certain preload attached to them. The cross shaft (actually a 4-ended yoke, not a simple shaft) that the spider gears are on is held in by ramped plates that force even more pressure on the clutches when under power. That is why the "binding" gets "worse" when you accelerate.

When I try to accelerate, even gently, in a tight slow-speed corner, either the diff grumbles, the inside tire spins, or the front tires slide, depending on road conditions and such. Then again my diff is set up to pretty much be a spool, with just enough give to prevent breaking axles. And it's a right handful if the ground is wet or snowy or covered with snot-slick clay, the car simply *will not steer*. Oh well

I was always wondering what was going on with it. But by the sounds of things, thats just the way she works, and does it ever work great. Ever so much fun when it rains, can you say " back end slip out, SLIDE SIDEWAYS while just keep pressin the gas and shifting up a gear or two and scare your g/f so she avoids riding in it as much as she can" down the main drag.

Thanks guys, now i wont be so weary about throwing it into my newest FB, whenever that day comes.

If you want it to last, never make super tight turns, especially in reverse. If you *must*, do it while coasting or applying very little power (barely enough to maintain crawling speed).

You do have LSD specific fluid in there right? It'll chatter like crazy with just regular gear oil...

Yes I do have LSD oil/fluid in there, or so the Great Canadian Oil Change said. If not those bastards can go to hell, for not looking at the sticker on the diff or listening to me say its got LSD back there. The bill said that a LSD additive was included. I'd have to check again, that was last year about this time.

If you have any doubts at all that they didn't install the additive, drain it and use a premium diff fluid with the additive. Cheap insurance.
