LSD Discs.

LSD Discs.
I'm replacing all the discs in my LSD for my SE and am wondering if any of you have replaced the old discs and thrust washers with the thicker ones from Madzatrix. Cost is not an issue, since the discs are almost the same price, but I'm wondering if there are any negative side effects from having the stronger lock-up----around turns, etc. The car is pretty much a street car. Your opinions are welcomed :-)

Before you lay out the 400 or so bucks to do it,measure all the discs you have.
New spec is 2.0MM with 1.9MM being the limit. Many of my old discs still measured out at 2.0MM when I did my rebuild. You must be careful because if you exceed the max width of the carrier housing with the extra thick discs, you will bottom out the cone springs.Best case scenario is that the diff will chatter like hell and burn up quickly from the excess pressure.Worst case scenario is that you might split the housing when you torque down the ring gear bolts.
There is only so much slack to work with inside the housing.Be sure to carefully measure the room you have, then deduct the spring thickness and the thickness of the proposed discs you want to use. With my good condition discs,I didnt have enough room left for even one oversized disc.Remember, our LSD's lock harder the more power we feed them,so its not neccesarily important that they be uber-preloaded.......unless you are going to be aggressively racing a stock or near stock HP car.Even then, getting the rearend to step out under power, aint that hard.
Read this, then read it again......then again to be sure you fully understand all the aspects of specing and setting up the LSD.
