Exclamation low oil pressure HELP

ok i need input and FAST, im getting super low oil readings. when the oil is cold i get ok readings but after it warms up the drop big time. after its warm @ idle i get 5 psi and at 4k i get 45-50. I swaped out the senders and the cluster to see if it was the guage...nope. So im thinking its the pump or the pressure bipass thing in the pan. what do you all think and what about replacing them. I was told to put in T2 pump and bipass. will this fit, will it gain anything? HELP AND FAST! im going to drain thwe oil now and lift up the motor so i can start pulling the front cover and oil pan off. i know the oil pump that atkins sells is 17.5mm compared to stock 15.mm and they claim it to be a high flow.

have you checked the pressure manually or just going by the factory guage?

my guage was moving around all over the place, usually ok when i started the car then eventually would sit at '0' !! the first time that happened i freaked and had the car towed to my mechanic (it was running ok but i had already been through a rebuild and didn't have the time or $$$ for another one) he tested it and came to the conclusion that it was a bad guage. i took his word for it and let it go. i had him test the pressure everytime i got an oil change, or some other problem.

then almost a year later i had a small oil leak at the front cover. when they got the cover off they found that an o-ring had gone on the 'main shaft' or main shaft seal or something (sorry it was a while ago) so sometimes i had oil pressure, but sometimes it would get by the o-ring instead and splash up into the top of the front cover, where eventually it started to leak. he said i was xtremely lucky the engine didn't freeze up and he's not sure how i made it so long like that. as soon as they replace the o-ring and put the cover back on, my guage started working again and it has ever since!!

Something you might want to try is what I did years ago when I had a BAJA Bug. Knowing that oil is the "life blood" for rotaries I can appreciate your concern. It can be difficult to trouble shoot oil pressure
readings when you have to deal with indicators/sensors/wiring etc...
You can buy a 0-60psi direct reading gauge, pressure rated flex line, and an adapter with the same thread size as your oil pressure sending unit. You can build your own "direct reading" oil pressure tester. You can then hook it up to your motor and get a direct reading of what your oil pressure actually is from idle to redline. Once you know what that is you can figure out if you have an "oil pressure" problem or and oil pressure "indication" problem. Just an idea.

WELL ****

well i finally got to pulling off the front cover and oil pan.... the o ring was in the front cover so that was good. Droped the oil pan.....uhmmm LOTS of metal... looks like the thrust bearing bearings....but they were all in the right place. pulled off the oil pump... spins ok a little ruff but not to bad. pull off the outer sleve and HOLY **** its scored to hell. now i know why i had 30 psi yesterday. well now i have a highflow pump and 90 psi regulator on the overnight flight from Washington..
THANKS to Kathy @ atkins rotary ill be up and running with great oil presure tomorrow afternoon
