looks like i got some flaking...need new housing??
ok well i got my spare motor apart to begin the street ported turbo 12a project.
and it looks like i have some flaking on the rear housing...how big of a deal is this?
also on the front, center, and rear plates. if i just bearly touch them and lap if off. will it hurt em to much. (i read that laping them will decrease life...is this true?)
what can i use to clean out all the nasty yellow/white **** in the coolant passages?? the ozzyjuice wouldnt clean it all out.
Thanks
Brad

the engine that was running just fine when I pulled it out after 119k of propelling my '80 around, has maybe six-seven inches of 1/8-1/4" wide flaking.
My theory is, it ran fine, so it will still run fine. I'm putting together a weirdball porting arrangement that has a slim chance of not working well, (although months/years of planning suggest it'll work great, and some SAE papers that I recently discovered showed testing of an arrangement coincidentally *very* similar to mine, and the results were *very* similar to what I am aiming for, so I feel *very* confident... But there's always that slim chance!) so if it doesn't work I won't feel bad like I would if I was using pristine housings.
