Looking for picture or diagram of wired open shutter valve
Looking for picture or diagram of wired open shutter valve. (81-85 12a).
And OR a picture of the open butterfly condition with working shutter valve installed.
I am starting to think that fixing it open is a fantasy that has never been done before because no one seems to know how to do it.

Just take off the intake manifold and remove the whole shutter valve and butterfly assembly. It's really not worth trying to wire it open because there isn't anything to wire it to down there. At least not that I've found anyway. It's way easier to just take the thing out. Besides, that will give you a chance to put on a new manifold gasket, put some freeze plugs in the intake, new o-rings, and channel the manifold if you want. Let me know if you need some more help.

Hum well since you may not of been following my situation...
I have a bad back so I try to do as little as possible. (simple answer.. buy the Novel for the full story)..
I did this valve once back in 1989 and those 2 bolts are one of the worst and hardest to get to parts ever invented.
PM'ed a couple people and was told to just have someone hit the gas and look in with flashlight at night.
edit add: Btw I am looking at a long term fix that will put in new parts but really just wanted to get some miles off this old block first. Then really spend 3-5k later (after my other car is paid off 2 more years).

Thanks but I already know where to get one salvage, SA's didn't have the shutter system. I wanted to just rig it in the open position for now. I have to pay someone to remove the carb and or mainfold. And that's not cheap. I already wired it pushed in all the way.
What I need to know. Does pushing it IN too far close part of the butterfly? I imagine rod out (towards front) is the broken condition
since that's how I found it after testing defective.
I'll find out next week just wanted to see pics of others rig up jobs before I re-install the rats nest.
