I know this has nothing to do with this gentleman buying his first 7, and I'm sorry to put this on your thread, but I'm going to say it anyway...
Some of you guys on this site just think because you've been on it for 6 years and have over 1000 posts means that you personally know more, and are therefore better equipped, to answer this mans questions than someone who has, lets say, 30 posts.
And how exactly do you expect the new people to the site to know exactly how to search, let alone find the archive to even find answers to what they are looking for?? I think this site was created to have fun and to help people.
So to kindly tell someone how to find and adequately use the archive can be a great tool for someone new to the rx7, but lets not throw the fact that just b/c you think you are better than anyone else in their faces. It’s just not nice...
Just b/c he has fewer posts than you do not mean that he is any less knowledgeable about the rotaries than you. So stop being a dick.

"RULES of the 1st Gen Section". In that link it says to do a search.
The "THE 1st GEN RX-7 FAQ PAGE!" link will have an abundant amount of information.
BTW, rx7nerd, instead of double- and triple-posting, there is an EDIT button in your message (for 30 minutes after you make your first post) that'll allow you to put everything you want to say into one post.

Actually, I was kidding, nerd. I forgot to put the in. It's a gag we all do here. When someone says they got a new 7 but hasn't provided us pictures, we'll say "We demand pics!"
As far as the catalytic converter, I wouldn't worry about it if you plan on removing the rats nest and other emissions.

Yup! I used to run without a catalytic on my 13B, I just had a straight piece of pipe in place, but when I had to do emissions, I had a new one welded in place. You can easily run a straight pipe in place of the catalytic no problem. All the catalytic does is for your emissions and, on the 13Bs with the aux ports, provides the backpressure from the air tube to open the 5/6 aux ports.

Yeah he's right about the cat. I busted mine out and it actually makes it sound and run a tad bit better.
Plus you don't get busted when you get it inspected(that is if your state requires it) all they do it a safety check so you really don't get busted for it.
So no worries!! And you need to go and buy that thing b4 someone else does!

your decision. i personally believe that everyone that owns an RX-7 should own an SA/FB before moving onto an FC or FD. you will learn the basics and will have an easier time understanding the later cars. you will appreciate your FB for its simplicity and praise it for what it is.

Buying a first gen requires a bit of commitment. You are condemned to deal with cars over two decades old and the issues they present. You are comdemned to the scarcity of parts for that age of car. You better be willing to learn to fix problems and better have a good sense of judgement as for every issue you get a minimum of three competing peices of advice. Are you comiitted to the first gen? Dont get me wrong, learning is the best and most exciting part about it. But not for everyone. There is a reason why so many car projects are started and never finished. And people go in and get a great deal!
H yeah, one more, you need to dedicate the time to it!
