a little help
Hey guys, before anyone directs me straight to the search button let me say that I have searched a lot already, but I can't seem to find the answers that I'm looking for. I have a 1980 SA, that I am finally getting a S5 TII for on Friday. I have searched to find out all the little tips and tricks as well as parts lists for the swap but all the info I found was for FB's. I know that most will be the same but I would like to talk to someone who has done this to either a 79 or 80 SA. If anyone knows anything about this or anyone who might please please please let me know. Thanks.

ok thanks but does anyone know of anyone here on the forum that has done this? I would like some pics of what they did with the shifter for example. I need to know what other differences that there will be for the swap process between an SA and an FB

I could be wrong Trochoid, but aren't the brakes the same in an 80 SA as any other 12A powered 1st gen? I know the thread pitch is different for the lines, but I thought the brakes were the same style as say any S2,S3,but different than my 79 SA which uses the wedge style brakes. Excuse me if you meant the brakes need an upgrade no matter what series car you are converting to TII power due to the extra grunt, and I guess weight.

There is no real difference.
Other than the shifter being way out of place, its no different than putting an FC engine into any other 1st gen.
You still mount the engine the same way,the same custom left side wiring has to be made, the same mods have to be made to provide EFI friendly fuel, ect, ect, ect.
Basically, the only car that can make an FC engine swap less work is the GSL-SE.......and thats only because you can use the fuel tank as-is since its made for high pressure EFI. All the rest of the work is the same no matter what year/trim/series 1st gen chassis you plunk the 13BT into.Trust me......and trust me that if you havent figured this all out already, youd better keep combing through the site and researching the swap before you undertake the job.
