Limited Slip Differential Noise

Limited Slip Differential Noise
Recently my limited slip diff has more slip than limited. Pulling away from a stop into a right or left hand turn causes a clicking/light shuddering/slipping sensation from the rear. Reverse also has a similar noisy characteristic. Three years ago the diff gear oil was changed. Would anyone know what the problem would be? Is there a way to adjust the diff or what kind of oil can be added to stop the slippage?
Btw,,,,it is a '85 GSL SE with 42,000 miles on the clock.
Thanks for your help.

Did you change the oil in it? Whenever you change the oil in the diff you should put in limited slip diff additive with the gear oil. Some gear oil brands have that additive already in their oil though. That will usually take the problem you're describing away. Reverse whines in most cars, most likely nothing to worry about.

Seconding the LSD additive to the gear oil.
As for reverse, the forward gears in most transmissions are a helical cut. The reverse gears are straight cut however, and thus make a whiny noise. Honda's are especially noisy.

mine shuddered a few times after doing some beating on my SE......lil wet drifting and i caught a dry spot with one tire. that was bad that shudder turned into a clunk clunk noise when i turned. so i pulled out the diffy and after unbolting it i found a bunch of teeth not a spider gear but the teeth that used to be a spider gear! anyhow it was ugly i blew my spider gear up! so just giving you a heads up and dont be surprised.
