Think this...bone stock DSM with a bolt-on ball bearing turbo for $1300. That's right a 100% bolt-on...same manifold, down pipe, coolant and oil lines...Full boost @2200-2500 rpm, possible up to 22psi at those rpm.
And the best part is you don't have to get 10mpg like you would with a carb and have to worry about atmospheric pressures changing.
Just trying to bring a little color to the rotary world.

That's right Diamond Star Motors
The chassi on eclipses suck, trannys suck, but the 4g63 motors kick *** and can take some serious boost in stock form.
Mar, yeah i know they are so slow 1st gens eat them up all the time while putting down 16's...sure. They are only running mid 13's with intake and exhaust...don't forget AWD.
Either way just trying to be open mided here and not stuck up or ignorant, that's all.

i have a real problem with this thread. This forum is supposed to be for discussions not a free advertising service for a commercial business. It seems every few days we have a thread praising Rotaryshack with posts from the same band of supporters.
There are a great many tuners and product suppliers out there who pay for advertising, and in comparison are not getting a fair go. There is a place for information on services and products but not as its being put forward in this self advertising thread.
Like many experienced people I have serious doubts on the claimed hp produced, I suggest the dyno is well off calibration. Several tuners are using gen 2 and gen 3 engines backdated to a carb set-up as a cheap engine refit. The figures I have seen for similar set-ups when tested independently are significantly lower. That is after taking account of differences in dyno type performance.
One of the great advantages of having a club dyno day is it puts everyone on a level playing field.

Ok...I have not read anything other than this particular post, but my impression is that some HP claims are false, Well, I will be absolutly happy to bring my little tiny 12a to any LA area dyno, for a Dyno day...that sounds like a BLAST! I think you all will be BLOWN away with the performace levels obtained by the rotaryshack....He says his 12a made 680hp....well you are correct it didn not, it made 720 right in front of my face on R&D Dyno service (probably the most reputable dyno house in the LA area) the same place Abel dyno's his race car. I dont know how much more I can say, but maybe where ever it is that you are making significantly less HP and dont know why...you really should consider talking to the people at the rotaryshack. BTW My car not only makes good #'s on the dyno but it runs hard as hell at the track consisitently now for months, I also drive the car on the street constantly and it is reliabe.....but remember you the choice of any two 1.)Fast2.)Reliable 3.)Cheap I picked #1 & #2

How about the fact that this one person is doing everything he can to hook people up? How about the fact that advertising costs money, and if we want to support someone who wants to hook us up for less money?
All Robert did was post pics of a car he just did for all of us to see. It's a NICE DAMN CAR. We began asking questions of him, that's all.
If anyone has a problem with it, well, too bad.

If you ask me (and I suppose you didn't) I think you guys are absolutely out of your minds to be anything but excited that you have guys who work in professional shops here talking about their setups.
Seriously, what a rescource: here's a guy who knows how to make the HP and is willing to show us what he did, project for project.
If the guy inadvertaintly gets a little word of mouth advertising out of it then so what. He earned it.
If you go screaming for a ban on these guys you're going to be throwing away a great source of information.
about dyno results; they aren't anywhere near as accurate as most people claim. The physics behind it relies partially on air temperature and density, among other uncontrollable factors. Never mind the differences in what your car actually produces day to day for the same reasons.
Day to day you're going to get slightly different numbers all the time, never mind dyno to dyno. So what should you pay attention to? I look for gains of 5%, 10HP or more on the same dyno, whichever is greater. I also look for significant numbers; like if a guy is making a dyno'd 650hp, he's making a metric buttload of horsepower, and if he's off by 50hp for reasons unkown, he's still making a metric buttload of horsepower.
Obviously that's talking dyno results; when someone is claiming 50hp gains because their exhaust said it would add this much, and their intake said it would add this much, and the chip said it would add this much and he added it up, the guy needs to rethink the equation.
At any rate, I'd like to keep the shop guys around even if it means I have to see their shop name every time they show us the goods.

Sorry, I hafta disagree. There's a fine line between "showing" and "contributing". Some can walk that line and some can not. Those that contribute will help others in need without regard for giving away "their secrets". When I read about components like "Rotaryshack apex seals" or "Rotaryshack this" or "Rotaryshack that", that's not showing OR contributing, that's shameful SALES!

Even if it's just "showing", I'll be happy with that. You get ideas from the pics and there is usually a good discussion afterwards regarding the pics. It would suck if this forum wouldn't let us post pics! Just my 2 cents.

a special thanks goes out to the owner of the car and his friend Chris for helping out with parts hunting!!
The owner originally came to Rotaryshack for a stock 12A motor swap but after a test drive in one of the "low budget" turbo swap cars he had to have one!!!
this car was built on a tight budget since the owner was a college student ,,, so if your looking for speed on a budget ,this IS the way to go!!!
p.s. you have to see this car in person to appreciate how clean this rx7 is!!!

Note also that he didn't say "hey, come buy stuff from me." We said "hey yeah, buy stuff from him!!" or the other way around. Aside from posting pics, I wouldn't say that Robert was advertising at all!! it was everyone else!!

Look no further than the title he chose for this and just about every other thread he creates.
A "modest" non-commercial title could have read "check out my latest 13Bturbo swap 80rx7". IMO, that would have been a more respectful title coming from a company that doesn't help pay the costs of keeping this site up and running for all of us to enjoy. The way I see it, he's not buying the cow because he's getting the milk for free.

This thread got a bunch of people banned...Forum ****'s ......People should pay to ADvertize but.....If someone wants to talk about how great Racing Beat headers are no-one says anything...that's free advertizing...and they sure as hell don't buy space here. There is no difference between that and 680's word of mouth rep. I am building a 12a setup from the info i have learned from his posts and haven't purchased a thing from him.......

not bad for a low budget turbo setup!!!

Well, Robert, if you're reading/following this thread, as I'm sure you are...
In the future, I guess choose your wording better on the title? You've got a lot of technical expertise that we don't want to lose on this site, so...
