ive heard the tokico's blue's are the best bang for the buck, they cost a little more. but they are probably worth it. thats what im going to buy when i get around to it.

Just from what I've read in all of the other threads about what shock is best, I'm going to go with the Tokico Blue's. Konis are adjusable but need to be taken off the car to do so (from what I understand)to much of a hassel for an everyday street car, the Tokico Illum. while externaly adjustable don't seem to provide any more satisfaction to the street only driver, and KYB's (I know that wasn't listed) forget about it, never heard good things about 'em. So just my two cent, my money is on the tokico blues.

BTW, where about in NC are you at?

I just put tokico blues on my 83 and they are sweet! Going 'round quick corners with lots of bumps they track beautifully. Ride good, too.

that makes me feel SOOO much better...

i have kyb's that came iwth the car, but didnt hear they were that good, i wanted the illumina's, but was affraid the spring rate would be too high to tell differences in the settings. so i ordered the blues and eibach springs ($413 to my house from shox.com ) the day after i was debating if i should of spent the money, when i have kyb's sitting on my floor, but im trying to sell them.

anyone want kyb's???

The stock rear shocks are Tokicos I believe, but nothing like the HP Blues..as are the bumper shocks.
Since you just need the shocks and struts replaced and you do not race, KYB's will be a good replacement for the price.
Alot of autocrossers that run in stock class seem to like Konis best. I'm partial to Illuminas myself.

on saturday i dyno'd my car, and i was talking to the guys at rosen in richmond,va. they actually go to road races, and have a second gen in a stock class, but modified suspension. one of the guys is big on sr20's and hes got one in a sentra. anyways.. to the point, they race alot, and all of them said they dont like to tokico's. they say they are easy to brake under hard racing, so they quit carrying them. it kinda worried me. anyone else hear of this?

I heard the Koni's last longer than the Tokico's... I only heard that form one source though and he's not all that reliable of a source... Haven't heard that on here yet.

Good to head that you have to remove the Koni's from the car to adjust. I'd rather the Tokico's after hearing that.

yea, thats shitty you have to do that just to make an adjustment, and when you dont like the way its set, you have to go back home to readjust it.

i hear koni's are made of the best ****. but i didnt want to spend the money on them.

The original shocks are made by KYB to Mazda specifications. KYB produce a range of shocks and their top line is great. I had Konis which started to leak after two years, but have recently switched to KYB in what is called their supercar/heavy duty series and find them better than the Konis and cheaper. the adjustable feature was never used due to the work involved and mid setting semed OK.
