As far as the cigarette lighter switch idea, I've seen it before in an old Popular Mechanics do it yourself encyclopedia. Use a push on/push off switch for the circut. Just push in the lighter to activate the switch and nobody knows the wiser.

KC just stake out the car while you are having problems, A loud scream and whop em with a red paintball would be more fun. also a pendulum horn honker that blows them at the slightest bump , could alert you to begin fireing paintballs. maybe white ones would be more visible.

how bout a pushbutton start under the cigarette lighter for those non smokers... that way the only way to even start the car is to know where the starter switch is, in conjunction with the fuel cut switches under the boot

I ran my ignition through the Cruise control button. if it's not in the on position, the car will not start. I also have a starter button hidden, so the car will not start with just turning the key.

I've never been concerned before, just recently with this particular incident...made me think that being im finishing up a big refurbish and the actual market value doesnt reflect the value invested or its value to me personally...I'd like to avoid a problem...just would feel more at ease.
Sounds like it sure is do-able...some really good suggestions..Im stocking up on paint ***** too !

Any option better than cutting fuel pump (they can still drive a bit if you're carbed) or starter (they can push-start it, as the car is rather light) ?
That is, is there an ignition relay or something somewhere, or perhaps the leading pickup from the dizzy could be switched?

do mean things hehe, freak them out- get a hat that says C.I.A and leave it on the front dash when youre not in the car- and then leave it unlocked with the windows down so they KNOW its TOO easy, of course watch youre car from a lil ways back-out of sight, and have youre kill switch in place so they cant get away, oh by the way-all jokes aside, talk to them if you see them again and theres people around- they may just like youre car- happens to me all the time, and if the best is true and they just like youre car-you may win more converts to rotary power! long live my apex seals !

I did notice yesterday, when throwing my SA's fuel pump in the '85, that the '85's fuel pump mounting plate is rubber-mounted to the body, while the SA's is hard bolted to the body. Innteresting... but really this belongs in another thread.

Fyi, the internal workings of the '79-'82 fuel pump are different from the '83-'85. The '79-'82 has a plunger design that uses the gas as lubricant and does not like to be run dry. I have seen several '79-'82 fuel pumps go out because the cars were run out of gas. And you just thought they changed the oil cooler in '83.

Hey guys.
I only check this forum about once every six months, but here's a thread I can possibly add to.
Here's the link to making a cigarette lighter kill switch that I posted a few years ago.

Personally, I never got around to trying it.
Good luck,
