KILL switch in Lighter?
I got a little worried, someone nosing around my car...came back a couple days in a row..didn't seem right.
I want to add a kill switch, can it be hidden in the lighter maybe?
I'm not sure how to go about it.

I have seen this done, though I don't recall where... (I don't think the pictures were from an RX-7, but it was discussed as a possibility...)
I'm just adding a key-operated switch under the dash :-)

I would hide it somewhere out of sight like the inside of the ashtray. When I have to park my seven in neighborhoods where stolen cars are just a part of the daily routine, I take out the rotor bug inside the dizzy.

Yeah, shutup kid.
I've got a hidden switch for the fuel pump. Now that my cruise controll is gone, I think I might add that switch to it too. So you have to have both the switches on for it to work.
It's easy as hell to wire in. I just cut the line going to the fuel pump fuse in the fuse box and wired a switch to it.

Interesting... but, wouldn't you have to take the boot off to get to it every time you turn the car on and off? unless you can just 'feel it' from the outside.

Interesting... but, wouldn't you have to take the boot off to get to it every time you turn the car on and off? unless you can just 'feel it' from the outside.

If you have seen the guy noising around, make it obvisious that you know. Standout side and ask what he is doing. IN A PISSED OFF TONE
Make your territory like a wolf. and find out what his plates are, if he walked follow him slowly in the car. Make him feel REALLY uncomfortable. I've had to do some ****ed up **** to people just cuz they looked suspicous.
Example at night, I'd get right behind a suspicous car on my block.... I'd turn off my head lights and just follow the car. A minute or two of that and they'll just get the hell outta there.

I stuck her nose tight against my garage door and pulled the mustang behind her to block her in while I'm gone, but i need to get something in soon. The ash tray lifts out too and maybe something can go below that.

If you put the killswitch on the fuel pump, with a carb, you're likely to find your car about a mile down the road, if that stops it all.

i always took off one coil wire -located on the left side of the engine bay twards the front-two cylinder looking things attached in a bracket on the inner fender- remove on coil wire completely- take it with you werever you go without youre car-it will run without it- but it will sound like hell and have no speed -in fact it probably wont go over 35 hehe its the perfect no cost anti theft tool.

The ignition is another good source for a kill switch. Can't start the car w/o it. I had microswitch hidden in that little air vent that blow into your crouch.

I've heard of using the lighter as a nitrous arm switch, so it probably could be used as a fuel kill/igniton kill/starter kill (pick one) switch.
A lighter is just a dead short that heats up until a certain point, when the heat causes it to release and pop out, breaking the circuit and signalling that it is ready to be pulled out, get dropped, and singe the carpeting.
However, if there is a load in series with the lighter, say a relay's coil windings (HINT HINT HINT), it won't move enough current to heat up the element and it will simply act as a switch. A completely innocuous switch, one that you can remove major elements of (the lighter) and put in your pocket.
I wouldn't try running the fuel pump or ignition coils or starter signal directly through the lighter, since the lighter represents a significant amount of resistance.

Why not just gut the lighter and use to for your starter wire, fuel pump and maybe work it to shut off the leading coil too? Or you could just hook it up to a relay to do all that for you. As for someone mentioning that if you use a fuel cut-off that the criminals will still be able to drive the car like a mile or so, just shut your engine down with the fuel cut and your float bowls will be too dry to even start it.

Are fuel pumps on SAs submerged in the tank, or up in the engine bay? Hate to have someone risk vapour lock...
