The guy is going to sell me the alarm and power locks for 200.00.
Then I am taking off the locks and welding the holes.

Actually, It's easier than most cars to add power doorlocks to a 1st gen. There are plenty of aftermarket doorlock kits available as well. I work with an alarm manufacturer and we have a lifetime warranty on all of our products. I also have a side business selling said products. I can sell you an alarm with a 2-door doorlock kit for $100 but you'd have to source installation. It's very good quality product as well. I could probably even help out with that. If anyone's interested, email me.

Thanks

Can they do it were you could also eliminate the door handles? Then just open the doors with a key fob.

Well, that door lock/alarm kit. Are the door locks remote? The reason i am looking is because my driver side lock is toast, the key wont open it anymore. The passenger side is also going, but the rear hatch is fine. I wanted to get an alarm/keeyless entry so that i wouldnt need the door locks. Besides, if the battery dies or something i can always crawl and unlock it through the back hatch.

Yeah, the alarm has keyless entry built into it and the doorlock kit is designed to be interfaced with any of our alarms. It's what I used on my '82. I also did a similar setup for a few other 1st gen guys around town here (Atlanta).

If you shaved th door handles and eliminated the keyholes, what the hell would you use to close the door? You'll either be using a ton of glass cleaner or destroying your paint job w/your pants legs or acidic fingerprints. Smooth only goes so far....:p

haha, ill keep the door handles, but get rid of the keyholes...dont know why he wanted to ditch the handles. Ok, puake, how much would an alarm and the wireless stuff run? If its under $200 in 99% sure i can talk my parents into spending the cash on it. After all, high school parking lots arnt too safe, or so my parents will soon believe, lol. Anyways, this isnt too hard to install then? Ive taken off the door panels and such, so thats not a problem. How does the alarm hook into the doors and is it hooked into the horn and lights???? I guess i was woderin if maybee the product had like a webpage or something with product specs as well as getting a price from ya..thanks for ya time

It's not real easy to install. But, if you've ever done any mechanical work on your car and have wired up a stereo or two, it shouldn't be a problem.

Now, hold on POSidawg! Since you were FTW based, I was gonna hook you up with some alarm stuff that did everything you're looking for plus roll down your windows and pop your back hatch with the fob all under $180 or so. Installing this stuff in a firstgen is easy, I've done 2 '79s and my own '80 for entertainment. Then ya gotta go and kick the dog while he's down...sheesh...

".......................FOR ME TO POOP ON!"

LOL

It's a classic! What a great response!

Mar, I wasn't making a judgment call on your "cleanliness" concerns. I was commenting on Stinfist's, witty retort!

I do appreciate your offer!

Mar3, I wasn't trying to insult you. I was just playing around.

It looks like I got this thread off topic. I hate when people do that to me, sorry.

To get it back on track, Mike (puaka) has high quality stuff and I don't think you can beat his prices. He works for the manufacturer so he can get them dirt cheap. He will even fly out to your house and install it for free if you want!!

For the love of rex, guys! I'm not that easy to offend. I was trying to guilt you guys out and it was easier than I expected! The stuff I have access to is due to my connections to GSR Motorsports and MCM. Can you say 50 oz. Hifonics subwoofer for $32? Now you understand why my access to alarm stuff can be just as "cheap"...hehehe
