keep blowing headlight fuse

I did some searching and i couldnt find anyone with the same problem i'm having, even though i'm sure it's been covered....

today i replaced my headlight up/down fuse, and turned em on and off. well the one i replaced it with blew too (good thing they come in a pack of 5) well i stuck in another one to be sure, and the fuse is blowing when the headlights are raising it. what can i do to fix this?

Check the wiring harness to the lights for frayed wires and any binding in the retractors.

Is the fusible link blowing, and what size fuse are you using.

im using 25amp, which is what was in there when i got the car.........you can literally watch the fuse cook when turning up the lights. should it be at a higher amp?

the furthest bar to the outside of the assembly (biggest link in retractor bars, whatever you want to call it) has some side to side play, and isnt really on there tight.....

wow thats tooo small.

you dont want to big of a fuse or your wires will melt. but I know 25 is too small.

Fusible link is 30 amp, one for headlights, one for the retactors. The middle one, main, is 60.

I use a 30 45 30.

30 top
45 center
30 bottom

I wouldnt reccoment a 60 for center unless you have a heavy duty wiring harness.

very nice. thanks for the link. its funny the haynes manual says to only use a 15A fuse in the 9th fuse (the one that keeps blowing) i'll replace the fusible links tomorrow and see if i can get it to work out
