just a thread about the 4 piston caliper upgrade and a few questions

ok. i am doing the 5 lug/4 piston caliper upgrade. i am currently trying to decide what wheels i want to run. i think the smallest we could go would be about 15s or so right? well ive though about running the 3rd gen wheels for a bit. i know itd be hard for anyone to answer this question, but if i were to use the 3rd gen wheels, what size tires would i need? thanks

just more info. the car is lowered, not sure how far but not too much at this time. i want wider in the rear but i dont want anything to rub. thanks

Yes, 15" in is the minimum size that will fit over the brakes.

Will 3d gens fit? I have no idea if they're the correct offset to fit...?

I know the 2nd gens are 5x114.3, and I think the 3d gens are the same as well, but I have no idea about offset...

The offset is different on the 3rd gens. The 2nd geners that run them need to use spacers. I would surf the 3rd gen section for tire size and offset. Keep in mind the early 3rd gen wheels were recalled due to breakage. The later ones were reinforced, but look identical.

From the FD section...

The stock sizes all have an offset of 40mm or 40 ET and are:
14x6 w/ 114.3x4 bolt pattern (Base, Luxury, 87.5-88 SE)
15x6 w/ 114.3x5 bolt pattern (GXL, Sport, GTU, 91 coupe)
15x6.5 w/ 114.3x5 bolt pattern (convertible)
16x7 w/ 114.3x5 bolt pattern (Turbo, GTUs, Infini IV)

In addition please see below in this thread for stock wheel type and weight.

On the same vein, the stock tire sizes are:
14x6 = 185/70HR14
15x6 & 15x6.5 = 205/60VR15
16x7 = 205/55VR16

Will 3rd Gen RX-7 (FD) wheels fit on my 2nd Gen RX-7?
If you have 5 lug hubs and use spacers. Typically you need spacers around 25mm (1"), depending on tires

I couldn't find the offset of 3rd gen wheels, but they are 114.3x5
