If you're going to let the engine sit, do everything possible to get the water out of it. The months will quickly turn into years, and your irons will rust and become useless if you don't. Pull the drain plug on the driver's side middle iron, then put a hair dryer on it; I taped mine to the water pump inlet (with the thermostat removed) and let it run for a few hours.

Sounds like a good idea regardless. I'll make sure and do that. I've heard of WD40 being a good idea to keep water out of an engine when powerwashing (assuming a rebuild follows the washing) would that be helpful in this situation as well?

Well, it's official. I've listed the 13B-RE for sale. I know that sounds like a huge cop-out, and I'm really sad about it, but it's just a matter of priorities and reality aligning. This car deserves more than a project sitting in a garage waiting for funding. It needs to be on the road, and if I get enough for the engine, she'll have a new heart, new shoes, and some suspension and brake goodies.

I've been spending a lot of time on my Grassroots Challenge build and haven't had near as much time as I'd like to devote to this car. I sold the 13B-RE for $1K picked up. Although seeing it go makes me sad, I'm happy to have some money to invest in getting this car back on the road where she belongs.

But I've made some progress. I picked up some 15x7 +7 Enkei 92s that popped up on CL semi-local. Not really at the top of my priority list, but given the rarity of finding these wheels and the tires they will enable me to run, I decided to go ahead and purchase them. Not bad condition for $400.

I'm picking up a running 12A from a friend out of a car that gave it's rear end to a LeMons project, as well as some lock cylinders and a fuel hardline.

Hopefully after spring break I can make some legitimate progress on this thing, it's been a while since I've had my own dirt under my fingernails.
