Its getting colder...

Yes, I know Alabama isnt known for its extremely cold weather...but it does get down into the teens in the winter. Its been getting alot colder outside the past few weeks also.
Heres my problem...
During the winter My GSL-SE starts sluggish and I have to crank 2 or 3 times before it fires up. However in the summer it starts fine on the first crank.

Im also cleaning out my engine bay and am wondering if I should keep the subzero-assist or not...
If it helps in the winter I want to keep it..but I have read (from searching..yes I searched ) that it isnt very reliable and doesnt work most on most 7s.
How do I check it to see if it does work?
And..
If I pull it off what lines do I plug?

Any other suggestions on my cold-start problem?

My car has been down all summer almost and I havent been able to drive it. Now the cars is back up and running and I would like to drive it this winter some.

Thanks for the help guys.

if the cold start assist is that stupid antifreeze injector thingy that takes up space, i can tell you the car will start fine w/o it. Up here in canada the weather will drop down to a minimum of -30 in january, and my GF still gets the beastie started in the morning (not that either of them are happy about it). Ours never did have it attached and i plugged the hose onto the strut tower studs to keep it from dragging. Im too lazy to fix it, im too lazy to take it out. if your car doesnt like starting in the winter, but runs fine once you get it going, maybe you should pump the pedal a little more when its cold... oh yeah, and if you flood it have a windstar ready with 10 feet of chain.

Switching to some 5W30 oil will help in the morning.I run 10W30 in the winter since it gets less cold here in CA.We do see some 30* mornings here and there.Running 20W50 is fine for a rotary on hot days and hard driving conditions, but its like molassas in the morning.
Also do a load/volatage check on your battery and replace the crappy stock aluminum battery cables with some good fine core copper ones.Their only a few bucks each and far better than the factory ones.
