Interesting New Source of Nikki-compatible Jets!

Hi Guys,

So I've been building up my collection of jets and air bleeds for some upcoming tuning I want to do with my modded Nikki.

Digging through some old threads I found the usual sources:
Nikki Jets from Mazdatrix
Hitachi Jets from JetsRUs

JetsRUs doesn't ship to Canada, which is a bummer for me. Not only that, if you ask them to ship to a US address for you but you live outside the US they make you pay in Amazon Gift Cards - probably the sketchiest thing I've ever heard from a legitimate company. If Jeff20B hadn't purchased from them and vouched for them back in the day I would definitely have written these guys off as some kind of scam!

Mazdatrix is out of a couple of sizes that I was looking for and that's where the interesting discovery came in!

What Mazdatrix markets as Nikki jets are actually Weber jets! The fella processing my order from Mazdatrix replied back that he was out of 170 jets and Weber was back-ordered on them. At first I thought that he had confused my order, thinking I had a Weber instead of a Nikki. I asked for confirmation and he said that they are Weber jets that they've used for years to fit the Nikki! When I asked which other Webers they fit and he said "I'm not sure, but google the part number and you'll find it"

On the "Nikki" jet page I linked above, Mazdatrix shows the part number as "CARB JET 170" which isn't super helpful. But on my invoice it showed up as 73801.170, where 170 was the jet size. It didn't take much googling to find a couple other places to pick them up. Like this place whose site looks straight out of the 90s, or this other place whose website jumped straight off those car rebuild shows on TV where nobody has a spot of grease on them.

I don't know anything about these sites, so if you decide to order from them do so with caution. I'll probably pick the first one that ships to Canada without fuss and I'll report back.

Unfortunately the Weber jets are only available in steps of 005, while the Hitachi jets from JetsRUs have a bunch of cool intermediate sizes... but I haven't been able to easily track down other sources of the Hitachi jets. If anyone else does, let us know!

Hopefully this find is useful for someone out there. It will be interesting once I finally get on the dyno to compare jets between manufacturers. I know that Jeff20B found out that Mikuni and Hitachi didn't size their jets the same way, and I vaguely remember someone saying that Holley jets are actually classed by expected flow instead of actual size or something like that. Makes me wish I had unlimited time and budget to get every type of jet I could get my hands on and spend hours on the dyno figuring out the differences!

Cheers,

Jon

I ended up going with the website that looked straight out of the 90s, but they took Paypal so that's reassuring.

I also found a second source of the Hitachi jets. They don't have all the sizes that JetsRUs has (only 110-134) but I was able to place an order shipped to Canada. The only concern is that they call them "Hitachi-Style" jets, so I'm not sure exactly what'll arrive.

I'll let you guys know what happens!

Cheers,

Jon

Keep us posted, Im in Canada and am interested in Carburation as they have some hard to find Dellorto parts. Old website might just mean they spend less time and $$ on making it look nice!
