You can edit your posts, big guy. You don't have to post like 50 times. And you seriously though that it was important to add "that's crazy?" Gimme a break. And also nothing's wrong with wanting to have a high post count. I'm sure everyone would want to have one, but what's wrong is making pointless posts in order to obtain it.

In his defense, when I was 15 (and it wasn't all that long ago) I may had done something similiar without meaning to or realizing what it looked like.

When you're young and conversing with adults (or people like me =) it's easy to go overboard.

That said, can we drop this conversation?

thank you, and that is why i put it on hear. i would tell one but being fifteen i can only drive so often. so please do tell. on second thought i do.
i was going to my sisters, and i missed the road, so i flipped on my left signal and went to pull into a drive way to turn around, and a white stratus flew past me on the left just as i was going to turn, neddless to say i almost gave him "custom sidskirts and paint swap"

There are just some things that on a public forum should be heeded. For starters, try to keep your punctuation and grammar on track. It's really hard to read posts when you don't exactly know where one thought ends and the other begins. That's the unfortunate downfall of digital media over talking to one another.

Absolutely horrendous spelling pisses me off, but I never bother commenting about it, because it's a fact of life, it happens.

The main thing that pisses people off is irrelevance. "Me Too" "That's Crazy" and "lol" posts are things that should be kept to an absolute minimal. Unless you have something to contribute (in this thread a driving story, which I did post), you should try not to post irrelevant trash.

perfect_circle, you're new to the forum, and we all respect that. Please don't make that respect dissapear by making more posts than necessary. A high post count comes with time, which is why we tend to see people with high counts as more knowledgable or "wise" than we are. They know the rules, and know their place in the forum. I would actually say that we have one of the closest communities out of all the online forums I've participated in.

Lastly, I don't want to discourage anyone from posting what they think might be a "dumb" question. Don't be afraid. Use the search, but if you can't find it, go ahead and say "I'm lost, even though everyone else seems to know what's going on". I was a newb once too. I posted a thread called "FB, FC, F-Me I'm Confused" because I didn't understand the terminology. I wasn't flamed (thankfully), and I learned something.

Ok, back to original topic: Driving stories.
Subject: RX7 cruise control in slippery road conditions--- DON'T do it.
In December 1994 I was en route from Vancouver BC to Woodstock, NB in my '82 GX (same as GSL in the states). About one hour past the Alberta border in Saskatchewan at 9am on day two the roads were clear except for a thin layer of frost, but this frost only existed in places where the tires of previous traffic hadn't worn it down. Besides that, the sun was hitting at such an angle that it was melting fast.
Traffic was light, and I had cruise control on at about 110 km/hr (70mph). As I started up a long hill the cruise kicked in to compensate and the car immediately tried to swap ends! I responded by spinning the wheel the other way, but since the 1st-gen steering boxes are so slow I was a pace behind what the car was trying to do.
I kept it between the ditches while fish-tailing (I didn't DARE touch the brakes) and my speed was starting to bleed off, but the fishtails were becoming increasingly violent. I solved the problem by waiting until the trajectory of the car was straight down the road, even though the car was at an angle to the road. At that instant I slammed the brakes on and allowed the car to spin like a bottle while travelling in the same direction as the highway rather than toward the ditch. The car came to a stop after one complete 360 facing the same direction of travel as before the incident. I un-puckered my *** from the seat and continued on at reduced speed WITHOUT cruise control.
Of course, all of this happened within less than 10 seconds. It's amazing how long this seems when it's happening. In hindsight, because of the upward slope of the hill the sun hadn't melted enough of the frost on the hill yet, so it was still slippery. When the cruise kicked in the rear wheels lost traction and away we went.
The coincidence here is that on March 29th, 1981 I was westbound on the same stretch of highway in a brand new Triumph TR7 Convertible (belonged to the dealership I was working for at the time) travelling at about the same speed as I was in the rex. After 48 hrs awake (I was attempting to meet an impossible deadline) I fell asleep at the wheel, went off the right shoulder of the highway, slid sideways (which woke me up), flipped once and then rolled, coming to rest on what was left of the wheels. No injuries, but the car was history.
They didn't fire me, but from then on my credibility was nil, so I quit a few months later when I found a better job.

I have a quick one that happend last week, while driving the 32 miles to work I was cruising at 80 mph when the rearend started to make really wierd sounds.
Kinda like a frog in a blender noises.
I was heading into Calgary on the #1 highway so I took the next left and pulled over. I walked to the rear of the car to see if I could tell what was wrong but nothing looked out of place.
I continued on to work and didn't think much of it.
Later in the night one of my co-workers mentioned the large puddle of oil under the left rear wheel of the car. I had blown a wheel seal. Being the cheap bastard that I am I decided to drive it home thinking that it couldn't be that bad.
The car was impossible to handle as there was 1/4 inches of play on the rear left axle so the lsd kept kicking in and trying to change the direction of the car.
I should mention that the #1 goes across Canada and between B.C. and Ontario only turns once. I think I doubled the length of the trip moving around in the lane.
By the time I got home the only thing holding the axle in was the brake caliper. Thank God for disc brakes.
