Installed My 3 Peice 18 Inch Ssr Rims On My 7.
well i finlly installed my rims on my 85 gsl. i got my adapters made by jr from motorsport-technology in CA (www.motorsport-tech.com/adapters.htm) and he did a great job. the only real problem i had was finding the wheel bolts to mount my adapters to my seven.
the bolts i used to mount my adapters to my seven are dorman part # 610-317.
i needed to shave the tops of the bolt just abit so that they fit flush in my adapters.
also the screws that hold the rear rotors needed to be removed so that the adapters fit flushed.
the adapters i had made are 4x110 to 4x100
also i attached a picture of how my gsl looked when i first got it

the picture with my buddy in the background is showing how far the wheel bolt stuck out. and the second picture is showing the bolt sitting flush with a little shaving.

so heres how it looks finished. the rims are 18x7.5 rims on a 215-35-18 tire.
oh i am having a slight rubbing issue on my d/s front tire. looks like my camber is off. going to get an alignement on monday. everything else clears fine just that one tire. but i bet this thing hasnt had an alignment since it was new.
hopefully this helps other people that are thinking of running adapters on their seven.
the reason i went with adapters is cause i have 3 sets of 4x100 rims from my old hondas. why just let them go to waste.
so hope u like my rx7 cause its BACK N BLACK![101384 L](https://www.rx7club.com/images/smilies/101384_l.gif)
Oh Yeah sorry about the spelling. im a LA unifed school graduate

Not a big fan of how big those are, but to each his own I guess. If you like them thats what counts.
As far as your camber issues, 1st gen RX-7's have non-adjustable camber on them. Its set from the factory, and only getting hit or installing the strut top to the strut tower improperly will throw off the camber.

I'm not fan of the huge wheels, mainly because they tend to be so heavy.
What do those wiegh? My 15x7's and 205/50-15 tires come in at 33.5LBS, .5lb lighter than the stock 13's with 205/60-13.
Heavier tire/wheel combos tend to really hurt the performance of a car, especially when they have less than 200HP.

I have proof that heavier wheels and tires hurt performance. My friend with a dodge colt with 98hp was .4 seconds quicker in the quarter mile with 14" rims and a narrower tire than with his big 17's and wider tires. Thats a big difference just from a rim change.
The 16's I have on my 7 with 205/45R16 tires weigh about 40lb I believe. The tire is about 19lb and the wheel about 21.

Not too bad. I think 17's are pushing the limit on the 7. I went the same route with the wheel spacer/adapter to get into a better bolt pattern and offset. If you had done a stud conversion on the hubs, you can use regular lug nuts to mount the adapters. I have tried to tell people since I've been in this forum that the wheel spacer/adapter is the way to go. But, I guess some are scared to try it. I would stay away from lowering it if you don't like tire rub. You can roll the inside fender lip to gain a little more clearance, but a full tank, two people, and a big bump, you will rub anyway.

thanks to everyone for the comments
The price of the adapters was around 160.00 us $
i attached the website on the start of this thread.
as for the wieght of the 18" i will remove them and try to weigh them tomorrow. i know they are lighter then ur average cheap one peice rim. these 18's are three piece forged rims. which make them lighter and more durable.
also these 18's are my meet and greet rims. they will not be my daily rollers.
for my daily rollers ill be running a 17" 2 piece SSR shumocher.
see the reason i went with the adapter setup was so i wouldnt let my rims go to waste. and also hardly anyone knows what a true 2-piece and 3-peice rim is
oh and as for losing power its not like the rx7 is a 400 hp monster. comon
some people said (oh ur gonna lose so much power) - (its gonna make it slower)
etc etc etc etc ...........
i mean my car is quick but comon we all know a stock 12a isnt a powerhouse.
ill take some better pics tomorrow the one's i attached were from my phone.

IMO, Having 18s on a old school car is worse than automatic honda with loud exhaust. Your car looks like a civic with 20s on...
Kinda like this 626

When you say (to the OP) that "it's not like the 12a is a power house" THAT is exactly why you don't want to suck anymore power out of it by getting wheels to turn. Your car looks great with the new paint job, we all have our opinions, so... ya.
You *can* adjust the camber by how you orient the how the strut is mounted... that's why it's not centered.
Put on your 17"s and get some pics up man.
