IMSA rear spoiler mounting question

i was wondering if anyone with the oem IMSA rear spoiler would be willing to post pics of the mounting holes for the center piece and the measurements for both as well. i am going to be installing an oem IMSA spoiler ont my 85 GS and want to make sure everything is exact with no mistakes.

I don't think I have any pics of the body with the spoiler off if thats what your looking for. I basically put a bunch of masking tape down to protect the paint and so I could make markes and take measurements before i started drilling. It will take you a while to get right.
I wish I had pics or somethign else that would help, but without removing it it would be hard to get a picture. Good luck!

edit: I could take some measurments from the edge of the spoiler to the hatch or quarter windows or something like that if it would help you out...

Ah I see, its really nothing special, just 3 holes drilled in the body, since it was a dealer instaled item I'm sure there was some kind of template they used, but its just a matter of "measuing twice cutting once" Maybe someone will have the pics you need. good luck either way

the way i installed my whale tail was i made a template out of newspaper of the base of the spolier, including the mounting holes, and sat it on the car.
Then to double check i sat the spolier ontop of the template to see if it is setting how i like. THen tape the overhang of the newspaper to the car to ensure it doesnt move. lift spolier off, and re test fit one more time, and then drill!.

need to install mine too....PO had it on but it came off and now there are holes where he drilled....nothing special the holes seem like "just drill through it and put silicone so it'll hold"....pics dont seem worthy...lemme know if anyone out there has good ideas as far as securing the wing...are you guys using any type of glue?

the only way i've ever seen an oem IMSA spoiler installed is by the two bolts on the center piece and the screw at each tip of the side pieces. perhaps a small bead of silicone around the outer edge to keep a lot of the water from getting under the spoiler. but you'd have to make the bead super clean so that no edges stick out once installed and let the silicone dry before installation.

H2K-- I feel you man!! Skip the date, go straight to business. If I didnt plan on keeping this SA and TOTALLY redoing is later on to make it perfect, then I wouldnt be so worried about it. Haha. I have SOO much stuff for my car that i spent SOO much money on, but I havent installed any of it yet. Damn, I suck.

The OEM spoiler is NOT the IMSA spoiler. The optional OEM spoiler was legal for some SCCA C-Production racing.

The IMSA spoiler is huge; I have one on my vintage IMSA RX-7 race car (the blue car shown.) The OEM spoiler was only half as big as the IMSA rear spoiler.

i understand what you are saying but Mazda calls the spoiler that i have, the IMSA spoiler, which is part of their factory IMSA appearance package in which the air dam, three piece targa band, and the three piece rear spoiler were part of. the IMSA appearance package could be purchased as a whole or each piece cold be purchased seperatly:

now i do understand that i do not have the true IMSA spoiler, which is on your car. and i must add that your car is stunningly beautiful!

/\ PWND! Newb. lol! You posted the GTU spoiler that was used durring IMSA racing... When people refer to IMSA parts they are refering the the Mazda specific IMSA package available from the dealers.

Mariah makes a copy of the IMSA spoiler they call it the mode 4. www.mariahmotorsports.com
