I'm willing to do it, if you are....

I am in DESPERATE need of a 51 IDA (or larger) carb to go on my new bridged 13B. I already have a manifold, fuel pump, and regulator... I just need the carb to go on it... well, that, and a RB 13B Road Race header, and a front mounting bar to fit a 13B in a 12A chassis.

Here's what I'm proposing as a trade...

I have a 89 N/A Transmission that has been completely rebuilt by Jesus Padilla himself, with a B&M Short Shifter attached to it. I bought this as part of a package deal, and since it doesn't want to line up with the tranny mounts in my 85, I need to either sell it, or trade it.

I also have... and it is difficult to offer it, but a set of Centerline IMSA wheels... 15x8, 4x110. They are 1 of SEVEN sets in the world, and Centerline Wheels, Inc. has appraised them at $3100, without tires... they have 205/50-15 Falken Azenis (the old style ones), with about 70% tread in the front, and 30% tread in the rear. If you are considering this option, I will also require a set of wheels in 4x110, or the necessary pieces to convert over to GSL-SE suspension, as I already have the wheels for that.

If you have the slightest amount of interest, please let me know... I'd like to work out something, so that I can get my car on the road. It hasn't moved in over a year and a half, and it deserves every single one of the 265hp that this motor offers.

A 48 IDA will do just fine on a bridgeport. Just make sure your jetting and chokes are correct.

The motor hada Gene Berg 58 IDA on it.... I'd like to go a little more conservative than a 58... like, a 51. Every racer, builder, and shop I've talked to about it, has said that anything smaller than a 51 is going to choke the motor, and I risk popping it. This car has had SIX motors in it already, and I'd like to not kill #7 ....at least not this early.

I could never afford a Gene Berg in the first place. Racing Beat sells the 51's brand new for $600, its hard to beat that. Good Luck. Carl

Weber Carb - 51 IDA

Part Number: 16602
Retail Price: $775.00
Qty:

Weber 51 IDA Carburetor*
Intended for use on 1974-85 12A & 1974-85 13B 4-Port engines.

YES… they’re back! We have recently found a new source for these legendary carburetors. The basic design of these elegant units and the simplicity of maintenance have proven to be strong reasons why the Weber name has remained so popular over the years.

The Weber 51 IDA carburetor is a special Racing Beat modification to a standard 48 IDA unit. This extensive modification involves machining the main body for larger throttle plates, fitting larger aluminum air horns, changing the needle valve, emulsion tubes, venturis, main jets, and air jets to work more effectively on the 12A and 13B peripheral port engine. As an alternate to the K&N Air Filter Assembly Kit, we supply an information sheet detailing our recommendations for the design of a cold air box.

The Weber carburetor is well suited for various race applications because of its simplicity, compactness, tunability and excellent float bowl design. As applied to a rotary engine, the carburetor exhibits a variety of good characteristics. However, in a stock or street-ported engine this carburetor’s lack of a choke system makes it very cold-blooded, even in warm climates.

The Weber 51 IDA carburetor is suitible for a number of rotary engine applications, including a bridge or J-bridge ported 13B engine. If the 51 IDA carb is intended for use on these engines; we offer the appropriate Weber components to properly tune the carb for these applications. Follow this link for a listing of the required components.

The one application where the Weber 51 IDA carburetor performs best is on a peripheral ported 12A & 13B engine. Here, its relatively small size is compensated by the excellent breathing capability of the porting on the engine. Although the 48 IDA carb can be used on a 12A peripheral port engine, power can be increased by approximately 10+HP if an upgrade is made to the 51 IDA unit!

The selection of an appropriate intake system requires that many factors be taken into consideration. Various intake systems yield different performance characteristics based upon specific engine, exhaust and driveline selections. Due to the complexities associated with these configurations, it is difficult to determine exact power gains for specific applications. Use this intake reference guide for performance comparisons between the Weber and Holley Intake systems that we offer.

*Legal in California only for racing vehicles, which may never be used upon a highway.

Read the original post again. I'll remain calm, and leave the expletives and profanity out of it, but you really need to read the entire thing, before you go and post something.
