what kind of blower is on the 351.

a roots sticking out of the hood with a bird catcher would be sweet.

A fox body. And I'd give him porting templates and all the peices he needed to rebuild his 13B if I could get a supercharged 351 that's in semi-decent condition for $200. Plus it wouldn't cost me $300 for his stuff.

Boosheet.

If you find a 351W with a supercharger for under a grand, you stand to make 2-300% profit by selling it. I'm guessing you know little to nothing about cars in general, so please correct me if I'm wrong. What kind of supercharger is it? What are the specs of the 351?

As for the aluminum-blocked 283 guy: Boosheet. As for sticking a 351C over a 351W in an FB: Boosheet. The Windsor aftermarket is unlimited. The Cleveland aftermarket is non-existent. The V8 retardness of the majority of the people on this board shocks me. How can you "diss" something you know NOTHING about??

    What's next?
Do you just start these threads to get attention, and see how many people respond?

This is in WRITING - I will give you $200 is you get a running V8 in your car, or make it a proper Convertible.

I am sorry. I don't believe you anymore, as you have cried "wolf" (or "don't disown me") too often.

Sorry for the rant, but the lack of engineering skills you seem to posess are only overshadowed by the "amazing" ideas you seem to come up with.

Nothing personal, just my 02 cents.

Wow, I didn't even see that part.

351 Clevelands were great engines. Or, at least, back before the aftermarket discovered Ford and started making good heads for them just like for them Chevy *hawk, spit* engines. Back when Windsor heads sucked heavily, 351C were the only way to go since they had actual real live PORTS in the heads. Too bad they weighed more and had cylinder walls best described as "weak as all hell".

351Cs were only made from '71 to '73. After that, the only 351 cubic inch engines with Cleveland type heads were 351Ms, which were 400's (think 460 deck height on a Cleveland block and a 4" stroke) with 351W cranks. But the 351M/400 heads sucked and they were real dogs of motors, for all the bulk and weight you might as well have gotten a 429/460 which is practically a bolt-in replacement for the 400 since the 351M/400 has the 429/460 bellhousing bolt pattern.

    Bleh.

Basically, if anybody has a 351C for sale, I am sure there are plenty of people who are restoring Mustangs or Torinos who'd love to have it. Or maybe a Pantera guy would want it. Those are the only places you'd want a real live 351C, a 351W is lighter, stronger, and has more power potential thanks to the modern Windsor-based aftermarket. The 351C is a dud.

UNless he has a 351M, in which case it's a superdud. Put it back under the hood of the LTD or F100 it came from and get a *real* engine....

OK, I won't "disown" you, but I will continue to regard you as dumber and dumber with each passing word from your mouth.

That's not meant as an insult, it's meant as fact. You seem to be the kind of personwho gets an idea and tries to fly with it without thinking. I mean, what was it...a DAY ago you were talking about this radical new plan to convert your SE into a VERT???? And now all of the sudden it's a v8 swap???

All I'm saying is maybe you should stop for TWO WHOLE minutes and THINK. It seems you've neglected to do so ever since you wrecked your se. You just started comming up with wild ideas without contemplating the repercussions.

Alright, I'm done. I just feel so sad when good people lose control of their reasoning skills.

It all boils down to this: The Mazda RX-7 is what it is, for one reason. The engine. It is the first sportscar ever to have a rotary engine, not to mention one that outperforms others.

When you take the rotary engine out of an RX-7, you have voided it's exisitence as an rx-7.
Once that engine's gone, it's not an rx-7 any more, it's a good looking, sleek hunk of modified, overpowered, awkward ****.

P.S. sorry for the high-jack (wait, no I'm not) I just want to give my two cents as they say. I ended up giving a dollar.

The 351c also came in the ranchero(torino) 71-73.
Now if this windsor has a paxton huffer bolted on, i'd say grab the paxton and install it on a 5.0 with a t5.
Now a 351 boss would be the ****,,,IMO I know that as soon as i find a 1969 boss 302 engine, it's going in one of my 7's. I'm with DF on this one, the kid just doesn't think.

This is my opinion, I could be wrong:

Stick with a rotary RX7. A V8 Rx7 is for someone that loves power and could give a **** about handling. Otherwise, they would have kept the rotary. Because, REGARDLESS of what anyone says, a V8 Rx7 will never handle as well as a rotary(all suspension being equal)!!!!! Not to say the V8 will be like a dump truck but it won't touch the rotary rocket

That said, here is my solution.

      1. If ya want power? turbocharge your FB.
      2. If ya don't have the money or resources(like most people that plan this project). Get a TII.
      3. If ya just have to have a FB then quit bitching about power and make it an NA beast.

      .......Any questions?

I never said i was going to sell the car as a whole, only parting it, then decided to rebuild and keep it. I still want to make it a vert and put a V-8 under the hood. Even if i don't go to the extreme of a Supercharged 351W (which i doubt is really being sold for $200, a friend told me about his friend who is selling it and we all know how that usually works ). I do have access to a few Ford 302s and 3 Transmissions with endless amounts of help from a friend of mine and his dad. Attention? Not hardly, these are legitimate threads. My car needs a transmission as is and obviously needs a motor, it'll be roughly the same amount of money either way i go.

I didn't say don't disown me, i said do it if you must, I'm not being serious when i say that. The only other time i said it was when i thought i'd have success in parting my SE and use the money to buy a Swift, again, in sarcasm. It's hard to tell a mood over a forum though. What's not to believe? I want to make my SE a convertible, i have access to a welder and body shop in college (neither of which will i be enrolled in until next semister). I have access to endless amounts of V-8s, look what state i live in. There's no reason for anyone to **** an attitude with me, i didn't have success in parting my car, so i decide to keep it, i want a convertible car to drive around in summer, so i want to chop the roof off. You say you won't give me $500 for a chopped top V-8, but why should that matter? I don't care what you would give me for a car that i will love, i want this car to be everything I want and if that depreciates the value to nothing then so be it.

I'm 18 this week. I guess those of you calling BS will see what happens in about a year, all of this certainly isn't going to happen overnight. I plan well ahead and am gathering ideas for the future of my car now. The convertible idea was a rather dumb idea that isn't going to happen, especially with a V-8, not only would i have to worry about the car folding like a taco, but also have to worry about it twisting like a burrito. Unlike the convertible idea, this has been thought through for months.

It's either i spend roughly the same to rebuild and street port my motor (~$400 to rebuild ~$150 for another transmission [synchros are totally shot]) to have ~190hp or drop in a 302 and have ~250hp, (~$400 for the engine and tranny combination and another ~$500+ to get it to work) I can then later rebuild my 13b for $400 with a Street-Port to sell for ~$900. I'm going to be spending roughly the same amount total either way, why not have the extra 60hp? The choice is obvious.

Good Luck, but, like many others here, I am going to have to wait until I see a video of your car running with a V8 in it before I believe you will go though with the entire project. I am not trying to diss you, you just seem to change your mind a lot, and don't really accomplish a whole lot between mind changes. Just my .02, which won't buy much these days!
