ignition coil

I was checking my igniton coils the other day and I noticed one coil sparks stonger than the other one. So I replaced it and I still get the same effect, I even switched the cables and got the same effect what could be wrong or is it supposed to be that way?

Thanks for the help.

Ignitors are expensive if you try to get one new. You can usually get them cheaper on ebay or from a junk yard. Especially if the junk yard doesn't know what it is. I have gotten into the habit of pulling them off of every junk car I find to keep extras around.

If you want to upgrade, you could go with an MSD ignition box and upgrade to MSD coils. If you run the MSD box then you bypass the leading ignitor because you don't need it anymore. There are good posts on how to do this in the FAQ section.

You aren't going to see a huge power difference, but some people have reported better fuel economy. To me, it feels like my car is a lot more responsive running the MSD ignition box.

Of course, the easiest thing to do is just hit up the junk yards and find a replacement. Grab as many as you can.
