ignition affects fuel mixture?

ok, I know I know, I broke the golden rule - only change one thing at a time...

Well, first things first, I just came back from a track day, (with three hours of seat time in hot weather, anyway, I don't think this is a problem though as the car seem to have run fine afterward.

I also finally hooked up my msd 6al to the leading with a fc coil. I also messed with the vacuum lines a bit and I capped off the anti backfire valve. Capped off the bigger openning pointing towards the front of the car.

Anyway, car starts great with the choke and seems to run just fine, infact, even better than before, however, it doesn't seem to want to idle with the choke off... I looked for vacuum leaks and couldn't find any, and it seems like it is possibly running lean at idle.

So here is my question - could improve ignition cause better burn and cause the car to run lean? I just want to make sure before I start messing with fuel mixture. I could go back and look for vacuum lean if that helps...

its possible for some of those valves, particularly the air control valve to leak air internally, ie its a vacuum leak, but its not from the outside to the inside, its internal, and can be a huge b%&ch to find.

id look at the anti backfire valve

putting better ignition on, might change things, but not drastically

To clarify and answer your question for future reference.

No. The engine runs however it is set to whether it be by carb and the jetting or FI and controlled by the ECU and various sensors.

What better spark does is burn or ignite the fuel more efficently.
