I'd do it. I'd do it quick.

Not to say there is anything wrong or unsatisfactory about a first gen, but the 3rd gen suspension is soooooo much better.

Lets see... No, And mostly on the basis of hands down reliability. I dont think anything can match a N/A rotary for reliability, besides for me it isnt just about speed. And if you can pick up a chick in your FB (Oh yeah, I did it!) then you KNOW she is a keeper. And thats because she noticed the 7's natural smell, its strickingly handsome good looks, its angry as a Hornet exhaust note... And she loved it!

And back to the reliability note, I am essentially still a kid, I cant afford to blow an engine that I depend on. I cant afford full coverage and car payments... On top of that I dont need the hassle. I can see myself buying a new car for the benefit of a factory warranty, I am a mechanic, and I get tired of fixing cars all day long... But I will always have the FB.

To the original poster, yeah alot of us like FD's. I do, I dont think I WANT one though. And probably 70% of us here in the 1st gen section own them because we actually like the 1st gens better than the other gens....

I think Peejay said it best, and I think I can sum it up. "Why get a high maintainance show girl, when you can just get a rough and tumble tom-girl" Sure the show girl looks better, but that cute tom-girl cant wait to get in your pants again, and again...

Could afford it, don't want to though. I'm slowly "fixing" the few things I don't like on FB's and I plan to drive mine until they fall apart or I do.

Again with the girl anology... it's nice to go to a titty bar and she the hot chicks sometimes, but you'll always love the one at home because it knows how to do that "thing" you like and doesn't expect you to spend allot of money on them everyday.

The two reasons that I'd rather have a FD over a FB is suspension and looks. Out of the box I think the FD has the advantage over the FB. When it comes to make either one faster In a straight line I think it's a wash, it's not hard for either one to be faster than they need to be (for the street).
I like them both but if I were to do it all over again I think I would have done a FD.

After owning 3 GSL-SE 1st gens, I am actually interested in an FD. I have read a few threads were some FB owners actually bought an FD and regretted it. I think I would like to drive one first to get a feel for them before making the change but I must really admit that I love the looks of the FD. If I really had my way I would like to have all 3 generations as well as an RX8.
Unfortunatly.... I dont think the wife would stand for that many cars in the drive way...

Yeah, you SA guys are cool. I like the FB better, but the SA is damn nice too. I like the plaid int. I wouldn't mind a subie for a 4 pass. car. Just a base model one tho. Or a 1973 bmw 2002.........yeah, that'd be nice.
