MI Idling Question

Greetings 7 fans!

I have looked through the forums and found too many answers, so I want people's opinions specific to my situation. I'm sorry if it's a common question, but while I am handy, I am not a mechanic and sometimes get lost with people's explanations when they are not talking specifically about what I'm experiencing. In short, forgive me if you've heard this question a million times.

I have a stock 85 GS, auto transmission (if it matters, and please don't make fun of me ) Here is what I experience: When in drive, the idle is very steady at 750, which I take as a good thing. In park, the idle moves between about 1100-1200. It used to go between about 1150 and 1200, but the arc seems to be getting wider.

I checked for vacuum leaks and to the best of my ability didn't find any. The tubes are in good shape, at least they don't seem brittle or greasy and seem firmly attached where they are supposed to be. I cleaned the carb best I could with carb cleaner and have replaced the fuel filter. I think my fuel pump is crapping out, and I have a new one, but if the fuel pump were the issue I would think that the car would not idle perfectly in drive.

I know there are lots of different subsystems and such to control various aspects of the idle, so I figure there must be something specific for me to look for. I'd appreciate any help regarding what to check, adjust, or replace.

Thanks!
