Do you need to disconnect the idler arm from the center link to replace the bushings? I haven't done it yet, but it looks like you can just remove the 2 bolts holding on the bracket, pull the bracket off and put it back with new bushings. Is this true?

I always hate removing ball joints, tie rod ends, etc if I'm not replacing them. I feel like I'm breaking them or at least hastening their downfall.

That's a defnite posibility. That's what's so great about this forum, so many minds can come up with some of the simplest solutions. By going that method, it would preserve the integrity of the joint and boot.

Just for everybody's information, that same part is available from www.rockauto.com for quite a bit less $$$.

I'm glad I saw this thread when I did, because I was trying to figure out why one of my spare idler arms looked totally different from the other. Now I know, and now I know which one to use...

In this pic, you can really see the difference in "beefiness".

I know this thread has been dead awhile. Just thought I would add that you can get the Moog Idler Arm at your local o'reillys as well
Part number K9369
http://www.oreillyauto.com/EW3/Produ...do?id=30309184

I'll probably pick one of these up next time I stop at O'Reillys.

The price at my local store is $64.99.

More than Rockauto, but I don't have to pay shipping and I can have it in less than 24 hours. Combine that with my military discount, and I'd be paying closer to rockauto's price.

Dang, $64 isn't a bad price. Just replacing the bushings was a nice change for me though. Took 10 min, and helped a ton.

Can you get the tie rods from Rock auto for a decent price?

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ight=idler+arm here is another thread about replacing just the bushing themslevs with the idler arm on the car. It seems very easy. I am about to tackle this project in about 5 mins!

Yeah, Rockauto will have everything you need other than urethane bushings, nice shocks, or lowering springs...Oh, and exhaust.
