idler arm

I'm having a bitch of a time getting the nut off to replace my idler arm bushings. what has everyone else used. it's in a terrible location.

Pull the cotter pin first, use a six point socket and a extention

Find the right sized box-end (17mm IIRC), and put it against the frame rail, then turn the steering wheel in the direction that will get it loose. Only do this for loosening, not for tightening.

The steering rack gives you mechanical advantage that you can't get by using your muscles in an enclosed space.

Chalk that one up to smarts!

Always does! If you've owned your RX for more than a few years, you've gotten used to some of the 'tricks' that can be employed to make the little jobs even easier.

If you ever get stuck working on something that seems impossible - post it up here. Someone else has faced that demon and survived.
